Synopsis:
Back in the 1980's there was Knight Rider, a shadowy flight into the dangerous world of a man who did not exist. Now, in the year 2000, Knight Rider 2000 reunites David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight and Edward Mullhare as Devon Miles. William Danies returns to lend his voice to everyone's favorite talking car KITT. In the Year 2000, criminals are frozen to save the city money and handguns are outlawed. The foundation for Law and Government(FLAG) under the leadership of Devon Mikes and his new partner Russell Maddock (Carmen Argenziano) seek to secure a new contract with the city, using thier new concept car, the Knight 4000. Devon, realizing that he may not be able to do it alone, seeks out the one man who can make a difference when it mattered most---Michael Knight. Micheal rebuilds KITT, who was dismantled after Michael's retirement into his 57 Chevy and once again they fight those who operate above the law, while the Knight 4000 is being finished. On they way, the recruit a cop named Shawn Mccormick(Susan Norman) who is shot in the head and is given KITT's memory chip. Later, KITT is placed in the Knight 4000 body. Shawn and KITT join together in this action packed reunion movie.

Facts and Tidbits:
KITT was apparently disassembled during the 1990's, which would go along with the TKR storyline.
Michael Knight retired in 1990 only lasting four more years past the original series time span.
Devon Miles death scene is the only link to the classic Knight Rider as it shows pictures of Michael, Wilton and KITT.
The idea that one man can make a difference is continued from the original series.
James Doohan(SCOTTY) makes a guest appearance in the movie.
The movie has striking resembelence to Knight of the Phoenix: Shawn gets shot in the right arm as Michael did, Shawn gets shot in the head and is "reborn" as Michael was by Wilton.
Michael after Devon's death comments that, "That man was like a father to me," which again pays homage to the four years they served together on Knight Rider.
The mall where the latter part of the movie is filmed is in Texas.
KITT when he is awakened makes reference to Pac-Man which refers back to Nobody Does It Better when Michael and KITT gave Devon a portable Pac-Man game.
This is the first time we hear Michael come close to a curse when he says to Devon, "Who's that ass you hired?" We also hear KITT tell Michael, "He looks like crap."
David Hasselhoff would not make a commitment to a series based on KIFT since he was only a year into his Baywatch directing/acting on the show.
The movie itself was released in 1992 in the UK for a short period of time. It has never been released in the United States but remains in high demand and highly requested.
