In a time where there is no time, in a place which is not a place I write. Of a once great king, Sláine MacRoth, who ruled an empire that was not an empire, in a past which is not the past, or the future, but forever. Because legends are eternal. This story only tells the tale of Sláine the Horned God as yet. Sláine had been exiled from his tribe, the Sessair, from the age of sixteen for making love to the kings chosen one. A grown man he was now on his way home. The story begins when Sláine and Ukko, after many adventures, ended up inside a giant wickerman that was to be ritually burned for the honor of Crom-Cruach, the monstrous Time Worm that was controlled by the The Dark Gods of Cythrawl. Sláine broke out and also freed a young woman who was to be sacrificed as "The Bride of Crom". Unfortunately Medb, as was her name, had been so drugged by the Drunes, she'd wanted to be sacrificed to Crom and vowed revenge on Sláine for preventing her becoming a Goddess. The journey continued but as he entered familiar regions he could see that all was not well. Murias, the capital of Sláine's tribe, had surrendered to the Fomorians, the offspring of chaos and old night, since King Ragall had been weakened by his wife Megrim. Megrim was really Medb with changed appearance, who had been sent by Slough Feg, the Drunes leader. Ashamed the king decided to go into the earth before his seven year rule and was ritually killed. Sláine had in the meantime outwitted the dark gods and attained a magical cauldron and with it he feed the starved people. He then took up the fight with with the Sea Demons, the Fomorians. While in battle he went into warp spasm and defeated the demons and was therefore elected King. But he didn't stop there, his intentions where to permanently put an end the people's suffering and fight off both the Fomorians and the Drunes. To do this he needed the four hallows, the Sword of the Moon, the Spear of the Sun, the Cauldron of Blood and the Stone of Destiny. He already had the cauldron and into it he entered and meet with Danu, the Earth Goddess. Their he made it clear that he wanted to become the new horned god and replace Slough Feg, who had twisted the faith. He then returned and set fourth for the four gifts. The first one was possessed by King Rudraige, a young king who had recently married Niamh. After an unfortunate accident Rudraige lost his hand during the night, but Sláine saved both Rudraige and Niamh from certain death. The king agreed to collect the gifts and see who they choose to be High King. Slaíne now meet with king Gann and after some persuasion even he agreed. Finally he ventured to court of the mad king Sengann. He had recently lost the stone to a creature they called the Avanc and it was because of this stone and this creature he had gone mad. His tribe had killed all of the beaver folk and taken the stone. Now only the Avanc remained and the king was haunted by the screams of the beaver folk still echoing in his head. Together with an invention Niamh had made the were able to steel it from the Avanc. |

Finally they had all four gifts and they were placed on the hills of Bolg Danu and all kings were placed on the stone together with the rest of the gifts. When Sláine stood upon the stone it cried out, proclaiming him High King, and from the cauldron rose Danu and appointed Sláine the Horned God. Now was the time to act. The forces of Slough Feg, the old horned god were closing from the south while the Fomorians drew closer from the North. They forces of the Tribes of the Earth Goddess rode out to do battle, first with the Sea Demons. After a stunning battle Sláine broke through the ice and sank into the water and all seemed lost. But, out of the water he reappeared, totally warped and ended the fight. Seven days later it was time to do battle with the Drunes and their leader Slough Feg. The battle was waging back and fourth but it was eventually brains instead of muscles that made Sláine victories as he persuaded the forces of the Drunes to join with him. But even when Slough Feg was swallowed by Crom-Cruach the battle wasn't over. Medb was still alive and a third time the Tribes of the Earth Goddess had to battle. With a clever love ritual Sláine charmed the EarthGoddess and the hole tribe went into war spasm and defeated Medb. Finally peace came and Niamh, who had only been annually married to Rudraige (a choice women had) married Sláine and the kingdom pleasured. In time Sláine became legend... |
