Holodecks

Holodecks were created to allow Starfleet officers on extended missions to 'escape' from the real world in order to relax. This technology became practical for use on a Starship around 2360.

The surface of the holodeck has 12 sub-processing layers, a total 3.5mm thick. These are bonded to a outer tile wall of 3.04 cm thick.

The holodeck can also project sounds, smells and tastes, using speakers, atomisers and integral replication systems.

OHDs

A OHD is a Omni-directional Holo-Diode. Each OHD contains a central optics section, surrounded by forcefield emitters (see diagram above).

OHDs are dispersed at a rate of 400 per square centimetre. Each OHD is just 0.01 mm across.
