STAR TREK VOYAGER

EPISODE SYNOPSIS

Premiering in 1995 and replacing Star Trek: The Next Generation, the Star Trek phenomenon was back to voyaging through the stars, unlike the recent creation of Deep Space Nine. The fourth series in the Star Trek saga meant that the entire universe was already set due to the hundreds of hours of Star Trek which had been setting the foundations. All that was needed was a fresh crew to begin their travels through it. Instead however, Rick Berman decided to enlist the help of Jeri Taylor and Michael Pillar and create an new environment for the Voyager crew.

Launched under the command of Captain Kathryn Janeway, the Starship U.S.S. Voyager (NCC 74656) was lost in the badlands whilst searching for a renegade Maquis ship. Transported 70 000 light years from the Federation and into the Delta quadrant by an alien entity, The crew of Voyager joined with that of the Maquis ship to form a single Starfleet crew and begin their journey back to the Alpha Quadrant.

Suffering from a shaky start, the cast of Voyager eventually settled in and, in my opinion, are making some of the best Star Trek ever. With gripping story lines and excellent special effects, the crew of Voyager are proving that it is indeed possible to create a Star Trek without any sign of the Romulans or Klingons or indeed the Federation.

In a totally alien and often hostile environment, Voyager has finally became, in my opinion, an elusive single theme journeying quite literally into the unknown. Voyager is indeed exploring strange new worlds, seeking out new life and boldly going where no one has gone before, the primary drives which have made Star Trek the success it is today.

With a total of 100 episodes currently produced and a sixth season in the works, Voyager is another welcome addition to the Star Trek universe.
