Baron Soontir Fel was the Empire's best pilot, leading the 181st Imperial Fighter Group. The distinguishing mark of this squadron's members is the red stripe down the sides of their uniforms and on their ships.
While fighting Wedge Antilles over Brentaal IV, he was immobilized by an Ion Cannon shot from General Salm and captured. He then defected to the Alliance and joined Rogue Squadron (call sign Rogue Ten) until he was re-captured by Ysanne Isard. While flying for the Alliance, he continued to wear his black flight suit with the red stripes down the sides but removed the Imperial logo from the shoulders and started using an X-wing's breathing apparatus and helmet.
