El segundo peor enemigo de Superman después de Luthor. De hecho, en muchas ocasiones, Lex Luthor y Brainiac se asociarán para perjudicar e intentar eliminar a Superman. Primera aparición en ACTION COMICS NO.242 de Julio 1958 cuando miniaturiza entre otras, la ciudad de Kandor. En la versión post-Crisis volverá a aparecer a partir de ADVENTURES OF SUPERMAN NO.438. En un principio es un extraterrestre, pero después es una supercomputadora humana creada por los tiranos del planeta Colu, en su intento de conquistar el Universo. La reaparición de Brainiac en la etapa post-Crisis es bastante más rebuscada ya que en un principio es la unión en el cuerpo de una persona que tiene ciertos poderes mentales, con la conciencia del desencarnado Vril Dox, científico del planeta Colu. Posteriormente, con la intervención de Lex Luthor, Brainiac conseguirá obtener una réplica de su cuerpo original coluano. Presentamos aquí las primeras portadas con Brainiac. The new Brainiac in the post-Crisis era is different as at the begining is the union between hte body of a person with some mental powers, with the consciencie of the dead Vril Dox, a scientist of the planet Colu.
