The
Jem'Hadar are a genetically engineered warrior race from the Gamma Quadrant. They
are the army of the Dominion and they are controlled by the Founders. The Jem'Hadar works under the direct order of the
Vorta, there is usually one Vorta per group of Jem'Hadar. The Jem'Hadar were first encountered
in 2370. In 2371, Starfleet learned more about them when an infant was found on
the station Deep Space 9. This young Jem'Hadar grew at an accelerated
rate, advancing in year both physically and intellectually. The Jem'Hadar lack
a vital isogenic enzyme needed for survival, this chemical dependence is used
by the Founders to control the Jem'Hadar, because the Founders are the only one that can provide them the drug that
counter this imbalance. The drug is called Ketracel-White. The Jem'Hadar have
a natural ability to shroud (cloak) themselves, but when they are experiencing
the symptom of withdrawal from the white, they lose this ability. In 2371 the
Jem'Hadar demonstrated their awesome destructive power when a fleet of 150 Jem'Hadar
fighter craft ambushed some 20 Romulans and Cardassians ships that were attacking the Founders' Homeworld in the Omarian Nebula.
