Captain,
U.S.S. Enterprise-E
Jean-Luc Picard was born in 2305 in LaBarre, France. He was raised on a family
farm, where his father was a traditional vintner. As a boy he played piano and
built ships in bottles. He applied for admission to Starfleet Academy at age
17 (2322), but he was rejected. He reapplied for admission to Starfleet Academy
(2323) and he was accepted. He achieved top academic honors. He was the only
freshman ever to win Starfleet Academy Marathon on Danula II. Jean-Luc graduated
the Academy in 2327. He was stabbed through the heart in a fight with three
Nausicaans at the Bonestell Recreation Facility on Starbase Earhart, and he
received an artificial heart that requires periodic routine replacement (2327).
While serving on the U.S.S. Stargazer as a bridge officer of lieutenant rank,
the captain was killed in action, and Jean-Luc took command of bridge. He was
later appointed captain of the U.S.S. Stargazer in 2335. The U.S.S. Stargazer
was attacked by a Ferengi ship in 2355. Picard and the surviving crewmember
were forced to abandon ship. He was appointed captain of the U.S.S. Enterprise-D shortly after it was commissioned
in 2363. He was offered a promotion to admiral in 2364 but he declined. He made
the Federation's first contact with the Borg in 2365 after being transported into the Delta
quadrant by Q. Jean-Luc aided the Ambassador Sarek in a successful negotiation
of the signing of the treaty with the Legarans in 2366 by lending Sarek emotional
stability via a Vulcan mind-meld. He was abducted by the Borg during the first
Borg assault on the Federation in 2366. He was surgically transformed into an
entity named Locutus of Borg and joined to Borg collective. Borg used Picard's
knowledge in attack on the Starfleet armada at Wolf 359, destroying 39 starships.
Picard was later rescued and surgically restored aboard U.S.S. Enterprise-D. He served as Arbiter of Succession
to the Klingon Empire after the death of the Klingon leader K'mpec in 2367.
He was captured and tortured by the Cardassians, but he resisted and did not
divulge any tactical information (2369). He was falsely reported killed by an
energy-weapon on Dessica II in 2370.
Picard is an amateur archeologist (published), he studied under Richard Galen.
He completed Galen's most notable discovery, the reconstruction of an ancient
message demonstrating the existence of a humanoid species at least 4 billion
years ago, thought to be common ancestor of most humanoid species throughout
the galaxy. He is also a musician he plays the Ressikan flute as a result of
receiving the entire life-memories of Kamin, a man who lived on the planet Kataan
one thousand years ago. He is also a Horseman and he performs equestrian practice
in the Holodeck using holographic Arabian mare. His other interests include
drama and astrophysics.
