BLASTER MASTER : THE LEGACY
Historian's Notes
NOTE 1. As established by Blaster Master : Blasting Again, the events of the Worlds of Power Novel (1990) are now considered canon, Eve & all backstories included. These events/characters are figured into the below storyline of the series.
NOTE 2. Blaster Master : Blasting Again suggests that the original Blaster Master happened 18 years prior to 2019 (the "underground battle fought 18 years ago," thus giving us a date of 2001 for the date of the original Blaster Master, right? Not exactly. That would make Jason 15 in 2001, and since his first and only child with Eve, Roddy, was 15 in 2019, that would mean Eve gave birth to Roddy in 2004, and Jason had gotten Eve pregnant at the age of 19 (not unheard of, granted, but a little early to be having babies on the brain... especially for a boy who couldn't even take care of a frog, much less a human being). For the purposes of this timeline of events, we have to assume the "underground battle fought 18 years ago" refers to the events of Blaster Master 2, not the first Blaster Master, which would make Jason a slightly more reasonable 22 at the time he and Eve had their first child (Blaster Master 2's storyline is canonly as taking place 4 years after the first Blaster Master). 22 is a still a little young to be thinking about children, perhaps, but far from uncommon. As far as Roddy's sister goes, Elfie, according to the Blaster Master : Blasting Again storyline, she was adopted by Jason and Eve sometime before 2014 and more or less tutored by Eve.
NOTE 3. The machine Jason shuts down in Blaster Master Boy is mentioned below as the late Plutonium Boss's cyclotron seen in the Worlds of Power novel. This is merely historian conjecture, but the properties/functions of both devices seem identical enough to suggest they are one and the same.
NOTE 4. The SOPHIA 4th name for the vehicle in Blaster Master 2 is conjectural, but logical. In the game storyline, the SOPHIA in-game is completely rebuilt from only the scraps leftover from the then-destroyed original SOPHIA 3rd and presumably new parts.
NOTE 5. It is true Blaster Master Boy is Bomber King 2 in Japan (an offshoot of the Bomberman series), prompting many to disvow BMB as being a "canon" entry to the Blaster Master series. Everyone is entitled to their views, but if we were to go by what is what in Japan, Blaster Master itself wouldn't even be Blaster Master, it would be Meta Fight (with an entirely different backstory). Sure BMB lacks SOPHIA 3rd, and maybe even lacks an explanation on why BMB lacks SOPHIA (apart from "it can't fit in the cave"), but in retrospect it does bear similarity to the Jason cave scenes in BM1, and it does feature what is apparently the cyclotron from the Blaster Master Worlds of Power novel.

15 year-old Jason Frudnick awakened one
morning in his home in Batrachia, New York to lose his pet frog,
Fred. Chasing him to a nearby swamp, Jason watched Fred become
exposed to a radioactive chest, then disappear into the hole
the chest had created. Falling beneath the earth, Jason then
found a mysterious tank-like craft, SOPHIA 3rd. Befriending
its shapeshifting otherworldly pilot, Eve, coming from the planet Signar-el, he began a quest in
the underworld to not only rescue Fred, but track down and destroy
the Plutonium Boss before he annihilates the Earth. 
An undetermined amount of time after
Jason, Alex, and Eve’s
showdown with the Plutonium Boss and his mutant Underbosses,
unexplained radiation begins seeping from the crust of the earth
at seemingly random above ground locations, decimating regions
of land of all life. Suspecting that some of the mutant Underbosses
created by the Plutonium Boss had survived and were behind it,
Jason went on a solo mission to find out. His suspicions proving
correct, he had to defeat another assortment of Underbosses to
avert the Earth’s destruction. 
Emerging
from his many battles both a warrior of legendary proportions and a
battle-weary man, Jason starts life anew in a distant land. But one day,
unexpectedly a stranger arrives at his door, and makes a plea: "I want you
to capture - no, kill the creature of darkness we have succeeded in
producing." The research facility she spoke of was located in the depths
of a subterranean installation in a silent forest, undisturbed by human
habitation. There it had been created, an amalgam lifeform, an
assimilation of life and machine, of multiple organic species, whose base
structure was a tissue sample. A tissue sample harvested by the lab from
the subterranean lifeform that Jason was supposed to have destroyed, the
lifeform with a name known only to Jason, Eve, and Alex: the Plutonium
Boss. Exploiting its own astounding reproductive powers in the region
underground forbidden to the human race, the lifeform was apparently
hollowing out subterranean niches in the image of its old haunts. The
decision to reactivate SOPHIA 3rd, slightly upgraded NORA MA-02,
seems to Jason nothing more than an inevitability.
One day, four years after Jason, Eve,
and Alex’s battles with the Plutonium Boss, a bolt of lightning
struck Jason’s house in the land he had migrated to four years earlier and caused the ceiling
to crumble, knocking him unconscious. When Jason woke up, SOPHIA 3rd
NORA MA-02, which he had hidden in an abandoned barn, was in pieces and the parts he had collected four years
ago from the Plutonium Boss’ mutant Underbosses were missing. Little
did Jason know that there were more Lightning Beings, the kinfolk
of the Plutonium Boss, and they were planning to destroy the
Earth. These beings started digging towards the Earth’s core in
order to shift the planet’s weight off its axis, leading to total
annihilation while they sapped the underworld of plutonium. The
parts from SOPHIA 3rd were being used to create a template for the robotic
army to assist the Lightning Beings in accomplishing their mission. Jason
knew he had to stop them, but he also knew he wouldn’t make it
without the help of SOPHIA 3rd. Since he couldn’t recover
the parts, he decided to redesign & reconstruct it with (assumedly) the
help of Eve to better prepare himself for the ordeal
facing him. After 29 days, SOPHIA was completely
rebuilt and ready for battle again, now known as SOPHIA 4th.
The
years have passed, years filled with both good and bad. Jason Frudnick and
Eve have since married, and have both had a child together and adopted a
child.
In recent years past,
large-scale crust sinkage, disruptions in ocean currents and other
abnormalities have been reported in regions throughout the world. Various
theories were expounded by the international community of experts, but
none of them were even close to generating a solution. There were,
however, two people in the world who sensed the cause of these anomalies.
Their names were Roddy Frudnick (age 15) and Elfie (age 18, adopted
sometime before 2014), Jason and Eve's children, who
had been left parentless too soon and too young by Jason's untimely death
a couple of years previous to 2019 and Eve's death from illness five years
previous. Roddy and Elfie's first step must be to confirm their
suspicions, so Roddy takes the newest model of SOPHIA, SOPHIA J-7,
once his father's, deep underground and it is not long before they saw the
second crust Jason spoke of in that "land below land," and a gate-like
structure from which issued a number of strange creatures. Just like in
the past described by the children's father, they had begun their move
towards the planet's core.
