The main character of the series, Grace Frost at first seems normal for a typical young woman in New York. And until now, she was. That is, until her late childhood best friend ends up on her doorstep, bringing heaven, hell, and a whole lot else with him. Now Grace has found herself caught in between what originally seemed to be a fight between an Angel and a Demon, but is becoming a whole lot more.
Gabriel Galelli was Grace's best friend as a child. Or at least he was until he suffocated in an apartment fire at the tender age of 7. Now, thanks to the joys of angelhood, Gabriel has become Grace's Guardian Angel. In short, He is the 'Savior of Grace'. But growing up 'dead' doesn't necessarily make him ready to meet Grace face to face again. He can't help but to begin to fall in love with her. He's more than willing to put his existence on the line to keep her out of Evil's hands, and possibly anyone else's. The small problem is that Gabriel his fast becoming a more powerful soul on earth, and shedding his old feathers to make way for new...Before his death (he was run over by a truck), Uther Pennbloke was Grace's boyfriend, for a short time. He's rude, crude, and hit on everyone. Sensing dislike from Grace, he dumped her first on a cellphone. In his laughter, he met his death. Now's he's a minor demon of hell, making mischief and finding information for his master (lilith). He HATES Gabriel's goody two shoes attitude, but admires his stubborn protection of Grace. He doesn't mind going on his own, just for fun, but he knows better than to tamper with thing the way they're set to be. Has a thing for blondes and sunglasses, and dark clothing.

Archangel Michael is an angel from the original creation of Heaven. Never a human, he has no physical eyes, but 'Eyes for Heaven'. Very set in his ways, he still has trouble realizing man is fast becoming the new rulers of destiny. He follows God with loyalty, and sees Gabriel as a young child unready for the path he's about to take, not as an soul fast becoming a warrior for the Apocalypse. He's an old warrior who is secretly afraid of losing his power to fight the new enemies.

Lilith has long been a controversal figure in religious history. Some see her as the true spirit of woman, untameable by man to be his servant. Others see her as the faults of female's suseptablity to evil. Although she works for Lucifer, she is by no means a menacing she-demon (though she loves dressing as one). Her 'task' is to keep the Angels in line, and makes sure that an angel's authority goes unquestioned. She originally believes Gabriel to be yet another out of place angel, but soon sympathizes with him, for she lost her only child when she escaped from the garden of eden.

Confusing, isn't it? And this is just book 1! Expect the strangeness to continue nonstop from here on in.......
