Disclaimer: I don't own Jareth, his castle, the Labyrinth, Tarin, Sumo wrestling, Germany, superglue, or Estonia. No mailmen were harmed in the writing of this story. Working Girl Blues 2/? I was up stairs fixing my hair when I heard the side door open and close. "Luuuuuuuucy I'm home!" "I'm upstairs!" I called down. A moment later, Catch came bounding up the stairs. "What are you doing?" "I got a job." "What? Why do you need a job? Why can't you stay home and watch monster truck races with me?" "Because one of us has to make some money to pay for cover charges at the clubs, and I have to *pay* for my food. Oh, and you have a shoe lace stuck in your teeth." "Oops." He removed the shoe lace. "Where are you working?" "The Castle." "As in 'Castle Beyond the Goblin City?'" "That's the one." "You're working for fairy-boy?!" "Calm down. It's not as bad as it seems." "Then you're not working for Jareth?" "Okay...maybe it is as bad as it seems. But it's only for a couple of hours a day." "But what will I do with myself?" "Hmmmm...good question. Wait I got it, I'll call my brother." "You have a brother?" "Oh sure. Tarin is more nuts than I am. You'll get along great. Do me a favor and pick out some clothes for me while I call him." I went to the phone to call my brother while Catch went to scour my closet. "Joe's crematorium. You kill 'em, we grill 'em!" "Tarin, it's your sister." "And what, pray tell, did I do to deserve this particular torment?" "I have to go to work, and I need someone to make sure Catch doesn't eat the mailman." "Y'know, this sort of request usually entails watching someone's dog, not their husband." "Oh, shut up." "Where'd you get a job?" "At the Castle." "The castle behind the mountain of glitter?" "That's the one." "Ahhh...okay, I'll be right over." I hung up the phone and went to find Catch. He had pulled out a little blue dress I only wore to parties and such. "I am *not* wearing that to work. Are you out of your mind? I might as well wear a big sign that says "Harass me! I like it." "You're right." He pouted and put the dress away. "It's one of my favorites, though." "I know." I patted his shoulder comfortingly. "How about this?" I pulled out a black skirt and a grey sweater with a scoop neck and back. "I can wear my grey tights with it." "How is that better than the dress?!" "For one thing, it's not blue crushed velvet. Don't worry. I'm sure J knows I'm off-limits." "He'd better." Just then the door bell rang. "Wait a minute....we don't have a door bell..." "Anyone here?" "Upstairs Tarin!" A moment later, a tall boy with blue eyes and blond hair came up the stairs. "Hey Bamf." "Tarin, this is Catch." "Hey Catch." "Hey Tarin." "You guys go watch TV or something. Do some male bonding." "Does that by any chance involve superglue and the mailman?" "No. Go on. I think ESPN is showing sumo wrestling. Germany vs. Estonia." "Cool!" The two of them bolted down the stairs and I heard the TV turn on. With a sigh I went upstairs to get changed.
