Just what *is* The Labyrinth, you might ask. If you don't know, you probably shouldn't be here. But seriously. It's a movie that was released in 1986, based on a novel by A.C.H. Smith. It stars David Bowie as Jareth, The Goblin King and Jennifer Connelly as Sarah.

Labyrinth is the story of Sarah, a teen-aged girl who wishes away her bratty half-brother Toby to the Goblin King. The king takes Toby, and in order to get him back, Sarah must fight her way to The Castle Beyond The Goblin City. The Labyrinth is filled with many hazards and ever-changing corridors. Along the way Sarah makes new friends and faces many enemies as she fights her way to the final confrontation with Jareth at the castle in the center.

A Jim Henson production, the creatures of the Labyrinth are brought to life in true Muppet fashion. This, combined with strange and sometimes hilarious settings, makes the film a true marvel and a must-see.

The film cannot, unfortunately, be purchased anymore in the US, and the book on which it is based is out of print. The Disney Channel still shows the movie from time to time, and it can most likely be found for rental in most video rental stores.
