Felt I was a little over due for a visitation. If anyone's noticed, 'Working Girl Blues' is postponed indefinitely (as in, If I ever find my muse and pin it down, I just might finish it) Anyway, on with the story. A Threat is a Wonderful Thing I shivered briefly in the cold air of the basement and continued working on my plans for 'Horizon.' Even though the weather outside had warmed up for the year, it was still an Arctic deep freeze down here. Without warning, the desktop, computer and I were doused liberally with Jareth's special brand of glitter. You know, the stuff that's impossible to clean up? "What do you want?" I snapped. "My my my. Aren't *we* in a bad mood today. Wake up on the wrong side of the bed?" "No actually. The cat thought 2 am was a good time to pounce on my face. I didn't sleep well." "Such a p- did you say cat?" I spun around in my chair (gotta love those swivily office deals) and grinned devilishly. "Why yes I did." I scooped the cream colored ball of fur off my lap and held her up. "J, meet Mia. Mia, this is Jareth the Goblin King." Mia took a swipe at Jareth's nose. "Guess she's a good judge of character." I smiled and set the cat down. "Ha ha. Very funny. Don't you have your hands full already with the dog, the bird and Catch?" "Catch is not a house pet." I sniffed indignantly and swung my chair back around to continue with my typing. "Go away." "Not until I find out what you're writing." He said, peering over my shoulder. "Really Jareth, I didn't know you were interested in my work." I retorted, mimicking his smug tone. I could literally sense him scowling behind me. "I've read it." He said stand-offishly. "Hmph." I said and continued typing. "Well now, *that's* interesting." He commented, reading over my shoulder. "I never knew you felt that way about me." "*I* don't feel that way, stupid. Amalthya does. Honestly." "What ever you say." "Besides, I'm not even sure I'm going to put that in there. I could just kill you instead." "You wouldn't!" "Would to." I smirked. "I'm capable of very evil things. Or have you forgotten all about 'Wayward'?" "I still don't believe you." "Look Jareth. I killed Sarah half way through the first chapter of 'Witness to Destruction'. What's to stop me form killing you now?" "The fact that you have plans for two more stories." "You've been looking through my notebooks! Bad Jareth! Anyway, one of those is a prequel." "Whatever. The point is, you'd never do it." "Watch out or I'll write a sequel to Demon Lover and it won't be pretty. Think Touch of Strange." (No offense intended here folks! I loved ToS myself. :) Jareth shuttered. "Now then, if you want to remain on my good side, you'll go away now, and I won't do anything rash or painful to you." He glanced at me, seemed to weigh his options, then vanished. "Take your damn glitter with you! It clogs up the keyboard." I yelled after him. After a moment's hesitation, the mess vanished silently. I sighed and went back to my work. ___________________ Okay, sorta pointless, but I got to banter with J. Haven't done that in awhile. Maybe I'll be able to write something now.
