FINALLY!!  PAPYRUS AND INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY CORPORATION GOT THEIR HEADS STRAIGHT AND RELEASED AN OFFICIAL VERSION OF THE DAYTONA INTERNATIONAL SPEEDWAY.  IT HAS BEEN A LONG TIME COMING AND A LOT OF SIM-RACERS HAVE REALLY BEEN WAITING FOR THIS TRACK.  I CAN'T TELL YOU HOW DISAPPOINTED I WAS WHEN I DISCOVERED THAT NASCAR 3 WASN'T GOING TO INCLUDE DAYTONA, ESPECIALLY SINCE I SAW A PAPYRUS DAYTONA WHEN I VISITED DAYTONA USA.  BUT NOW EVERYONE IS HAPPY BECAUSE THE WAIT SEEMS TO HAVE BEEN WORTH IT.  

THE PAPYRUS DAYTONA TRACK IS AWESOME!  IT HAS INCREDIBLE DETAIL, AND IT ACCURATELY CONVEYS HOW DIFFICULT THE DAYTONA SPEEDWAY IS TO DRIVE.  FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO HAVE BEEN RUNNING DEGA-TONAS, YOU ARE IN FOR A SHOCK.  DAYTONA IS MUCH MORE NARROW THAN TALLADEGA AND IT IS MUCH MORE RELIANT ON DRIVER SKILL AND GOOD HANDLING.

TWO-WIDE AND THREE-WIDE WORK FAIRLY WELL AT DEGA BUT IF YOU RUN SIDE-BY-SIDE AT DAYTONA, YOU BETTER BE ON YOUR TOES OR A LOT OF CARS WILL BE HEADING TO THE JUNKYARD.  ALSO, YOU NEED TO BE AWARE OF YOUR TIRE WEAR MUCH MORE SO THAN AT DEGA.  IF YOU ARE RUNNING IN A FAST PACED RACE, YOUR RIGHT SIDE TIRES WILL START GIVING UP IN ABOUT 15 LAPS, MAKING THE CAR PUSH UP THROUGH THE CORNERS.

AS FAR AS THE LINE AROUND THE RACE TRACK,  STARTING AS YOU COME OUT OF TURN 4 TOWARDS THE START/FINISH LINE, STAY OUT NEAR THE WALL AND THEN TRY TO TURN DOWN TO THE WHITE LINE THROUGH THE TRI-OVAL AS YOU CROSS THE LINE.  AS YOU PASS THE LINE, YOU WILL NOTICE THE CAR HAS A SLIGHT TENDENCY TO JUMP OUT TOWARDS THE WALL, SO BE CAREFUL.

AS YOU HEAD INTO TURN 1, START OUT WIDE THEN DRIVE IT DOWN TO THE BOTTOM AND TRY TO KEEP THE CAR DOWN LOW.  IN RACE SITUATIONS, YOU WILL DEFINITELY SEE THE BENEFIT OF OF THE LOW GROOVE HERE.  AS YOUR TIRES WEAR, YOU WILL NEED TO BE READY FOR THE INEVITABLE PUSH THAT COMES WITH LESS TIRE GRIP.  TRY TO STAY DOWN AS YOU EXIT TURN 3 AND THEN EASE OUT TO THE SUPERSTRETCH WALL.  THE LINE THROUGH 3 AND 4 SEEMS TO BE A LITTLE EASIER TO HOLD LOW, SO RUN IT HARD AND GET SET UP FOR THE TRI-OVAL AGAIN.

 

NASCAR 3 DAYTONA RACE SETUP
THIS IS A GREAT RACE SETUP.  IN THE DRAFT, THIS CAR IS ABSOLUTELY INCREDIBLE.  MY BEST LAP IN THE DRAFT IS 199.885!!  THIS IS A NEW SETUP THAT IS FASTER AND MORE STABLE THAN THE OLD ONE POSTED HERE.  IN A LEAGUE RACE, AFTER A BAD START,  I RAN DOWN THE FRONT PACK BY MYSELF WITH THIS SETUP.  WITH SOME PRACTICE, YOU WILL RUN GREAT WITH THIS ONE.
