RICHMOND IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE TRACKS. IT HAS ALL THE ELEMENTS OF A SHORT TRACK, BUT WITH A LOT OF SPEED ALSO. YOU HAVE TO BE PATIENT AND KEEP DRIVE SMART TO WIN HERE. IF YOU DON'T, YOU'LL PROBABLY END UP LAPS DOWN WITH NO FRONT BODYWORK OR WORSE. THE DRIVER WHO RUNS ALL OUT EVERY LAP HERE USUALLY ENDS UP IN A WRECK SOMEWHERE DOWN THE LINE. SO DRIVE ON THE CONSERVATIVE SIDE AND GIVE YOURSELF A CHANCE.
THE GROOVE AT RICHMOND IS FAIRLY WIDE TO RACE IN, BUT THE FAST WAY AROUND IS A LITTLE SOMETHING LIKE THIS. START OUT HIGH NEAR THE WALL ON THE FRONTSTRETCH. GET ON THE BRAKES AND TURN THE CAR DOWN TO THE APEX OF THE CORNER. I SEEM TO RUN A LITTLE FASTER ABOUT 1/4 OF A CAR WIDTH HIGHER THAN THE WHITE LINE. BRAKING IS CRITICAL HERE. BE CAREFUL NOT TO BRAKE TOO LATE OR YOU WILL LOSE A LOT OF SPEED IN TURN 1. I VARY BACK AND FORTH BETWEEN SHIFTING AND NO SHIFTING IN THE CORNERS. DURING A LONG RACE I'LL TEND TO NOT SHIFT AND TAKE MORE CARE OF THE TIRES BY RUNNING A LITTLE EASIER THROUGH THE CORNERS. IN A SPRINT RACE I LIKE TO SHIFT MORE AND RUN HARDER THROUGH THE CORNERS.
LET THE CAR DRIFT OUT TO THE BACKSTRETCH WALL COMING OUT OF TURN 2. GET ON THE BRAKES AND TURN THE CAR DOWN TO THE BOTTOM IN TURN 3. I TEND TO RUN A LITTLE LOWER AND GET ON THE GAS SOONER IN 3 AND 4 BECAUSE OF THE "D" SHAPE OF THE TRACK GIVES YOU A LITTLE EXTRA ROOM COMING OUT OF 4.
YOU'LL FIND THAT 2 WIDE RACING IS POSSIBLE HERE. JUST BE CAREFUL IF YOUR ON THE INSIDE NOT TO GET INTO THE CORNERS TOO HARD AND SLIDE UP INTO THE OUTSIDE GUY. YOU SHOULD REALLY BE ABLE TO RUN GOOD WITH SOME PRACTICE HERE. HAVE FUN!

THIS IS A GOOD STABLE RACE
SETUP THAT SHOULD GET REALLY FAST TOWARDS THE END OF THE FUEL RUN. IT'S
JUST A LITTLE LOOSE BUT THIS WILL LET YOU USE THE THROTTLE TO HELP STEER THE CAR
THROUGH THE TURNS A LITTLE EASIER. BEST LAP IN THE 122 RANGE.
