Vehicles include the MOWAG Roland 4×4 armoured car and RACA-Hughes Model 500M helicopter.

The Australian Federal Police transferred from the 9×29mmR (.38 Special) S&W Model 64 revolver to the 9×19mm Glock 17 pistol in the year 2000.

These SWAT-type units (one in each state, protecting federal installations only) are issued the 9×19mm Glock 17 pistol, 9×19mm H&K MP5A3 submachine gun, 5.56×45mm Bushmaster XM15E2S Shorty semi-automatic carbine and 18.5×70mmR (12-gauge) Benelli M3 Super 90 semi-automatic shotgun.

Northern Territory Police

This agency adopted the 9×19mm Glock 17 pistol as standard sidearm in 1996.

West Australia

West Australia Police

Patrol officers are armed with the 9×29mmR (.38 Special) S&W Model 10 revolver (4" barrel), while detectives carry the same weapon with a 2" barrel. Qualified officers can be issued a 7.62×51mm Lithgow L1A1 semi-automatic rifle or 18.5×70mmR (12-gauge) Remington Model 870 pump-action shotgun for use in special situations, normally only used to bring down dangerous animals.

Tactical Response Group (TRG)

This SWAT-type unit is responsible for the whole state of Western Australia. Equipment includes the 10×21mm (.40 S&W) H&K USP pistol, 10×21mm (.40 S&W) S&W SW40F Sigma pistol (standard issue), 9×19mm H&K MP5KA4 submachine gun, 9×19mm H&K MP5A4 submachine gun, 11.43×23mm (.45 ACP) H&K UMP submachine gun, 7.62×51mm H&K G3A3 battle rifle, 7.62×51mm Parker-Hale Model 82 bolt-action sniper rifle and 18.5×76mmR (12-gauge Magnum) Miltech Model 570P pump-action shotgun (a customised Remington Model 870SP Super Magnum).

Special Air Service Regiment (SASR)

The inventory includes the 9×19mm FN-Browning HP-35 pistol, 9×19mm H&K USP pistol, 10×21mm (.40 S&W) H&K USP pistol (not authorised for the counter-terrorist team), 11.43×23mm (.45 ACP) H&K USP Tactical pistol with suppressor (not authorised for the counter-terrorist team), 9×19mm H&K MP5KA4 submachine gun, 9×19mm H&K MP5SD4 submachine gun, 5.56×45mm Colt CAR-15A3 Model 977 assault carbine (known locally as the M4A5), 5.56×45mm LSAF F88C assault carbine (license-made Steyr AUG A1), 5.56×45mm LSAF F88 assault rifle and 5.56×45mm ADI F88SA1 assault rifle (with 3.4× scope). The 5.56×45mm ADI F88GL assault rifle consists of a F88S rifle fitted with a special barrel to accept the 40×46mmSR R/M Equipment M203PI underbarrel grenade launcher. It also mounts a KAC quadrant reflex sight. The SASR replaced most of the F88s with CAR-15A3s in the late 1990s. Support weapons include the 5.56×45mm LSAF F89A1 light machine gun (license-made FN MINIMI with 3.4× or night vision scope), 7.62×51mm Accuracy International F98 bolt-action sniper rifle (modified AW), 18.5×70mmR (12-gauge) Beretta RS-202P pump-action shotgun, 40×46mmSR R/M Equipment M203PI underbarrel grenade launcher (under M4A5and F88GL) and 84mm Bofors M3 Carl Gustaf recoilless rifle.

Royal Canadian Mounted Police

Since the late 1990s, the Mounties issue 9×19mm S&W Model 5946 and Model 3953 pistols. Other weapons include the 9×19mm H&K MP5SFA3 semi-automatic carbine, 9×19mm H&K MP5A3 submachine gun, 5.56×45mm Diemaco C8 assault carbine (based on the Colt CAR-15A2 Model 725), 5.56×45mm Diemaco C8FT assault carbine (similar to the CAR-15A3 Model 925 with 3.4× sight), 7.62×51mm Armament Technology AT1-M24 bolt-action sniper rifle (based on the Remington Model 700 sniper rifle with 10× scope), 7.62×51mm Parker-Hale C3A1 bolt-action sniper rifle (modified Model 82 with 10× scope) and 18.5×70mmR (12-gauge) Remington Model 870 pump-action shotgun.

After the disbanding of the ERT in 1993, the RCMP is no longer responsible for counter-terrorist duties, these having been taken over by the JTF-2 of the Canadian Armed Forces.

Slædepatrulj Sirius (Dogsled Patrol Sirius)

Some of the toughest members of Frømandskorpset are selected for dogsled-mounted, seven-month-long two-man patrols on Greenland. For hunting and against the ever-present polar bears, they are armed with 10×25mm Glock 20 pistols and 7.62×63mm (.30-06 Springfield) Winchester G M/53 bolt-action sniper rifles (Enfield-pattern M1917).

Danish State Police

The standard sidearm for many years has been the 7.65×17mmSR Walther PP pistol, but is now being replaced by the 9×19mm H&K USP Compact.

EL SALVADOR

National Police

Special Operations Group (SOG)

Guns include the 9×18mm Izhmekh PM Makarov pistol, 9×19mm H&K MP5K submachine gun, 9×19mm H&K MP5A3 submachine gun and 9×19mm H&K MP5SD3 sound-suppressed submachine gun.

FINLAND

Poliisi/Polis (Police)

The Finnish police forces standardised on the 9×19mm Glock 17 and 19 pistols in 1994, which had been in service with some agencies since 1988. The Glocks replaced a hodgepodge of older guns such as the 7.65×17mmSR FN-Browning M1910 pistol, 9×29mmR (.38 Special) S&W Model 13 and 9×33mmR (.357 Magnum) S&W Model 586 revolvers. The standard support weapon is the 9×19mm H&K MP5SFA2 semi-automatic carbine (but seen seldom enough). The most widespread shotgun is the 18.5×70mmR (12-gauge) Remington Model 870, although other models are in service, including the popular 18.5×70mmR (12-gauge) Baikal IJ-43 double-barrelled shotguns.

A popular patrol vehicle in urban areas is the Ford Mondeo.

Their stead is the Eurocopter AS552 Cougar Mk 2 CSAR helicopter.

COFUSCO consists of several small and specialised units, including four naval assault commandos and one combat diver commando - the Commando Hubert. Groupe d'Intervention de la Gendarmerie Nationale (GIGN - Intervention Group of the National Gendarmerie)

The Gendarmerie adopted the 9×19mm MAS PA-MAS-G1 pistol (licensed Beretta Mod 92G) as its standard sidearm in 1987, entering service in 1989. However, many operators still use the 9×33mmR (.357 Magnum) Manurhin MR-73 revolver as primary handgun. Semi-automatic pistols such as the PA-MAS-G1, 9×19mm Glock 17, 9×19mm H&K P7M13 or 9×19mm SIG-Sauer P228 are universally carried as backup pistols. Submachine guns include the 9×19mm H&K MP5KA5 machine pistol, 9×19mm H&K MP5A5 submachine gun and 9×19mm H&K MP5SD6 suppressed submachine gun. The 9×19mm FN Uzi submachine gun (Belgian-made IMI Model 39) is used only by the GIGN divers. The main rifle-calibre assault weapon is the 5.56×45mm SIG SG551 SWAT assault carbine, but the 5.56×45mm GIAT FA-MAS-F1, 5.56×45mm H&K HK33A5 and 5.56×45mm SIG SG550 assault rifles are also used. Some 7.62×51mm H&K G3A3 automatic rifles are used for overwatch. Sniper rifles include the 7.62×51mm MAS FR-F1 bolt-action rifle, 7.62×51mm PGM UR Intervention bolt-action rifle, 7.62×51mm PGM UR Commando bolt-action rifle, 7.62×66mmB (.300 Winchester Magnum) PGM UR Magnum bolt-action rifle, 8.6×70mm (.338 Lapua Magnum) Accuraccy International AWM bolt-action rifle, 12.7×99mm PGM Hécate II bolt-action rifle and 12.7×99mm Barrett Model 82A1 semi-automatic rifle. For shotguns GIGN use the 18.5×70mmR (12-gauge) Remington Model 870P pump-action shotgun as well as the 18.5×70mmR (12-gauge) Franchi SPAS-12 semi-automatic shotgun. The 40×46mmSR Mechem MGL-6 grenade launcher and the 40×46mmSR H&K HK79 underbarrel grenade launcher (under G3A3) are used to launch non-lethal grenades.

These police forces have the 9×29mmR (.38 Special) Ruger SP-101 revolver, 9×33mmR (.357 Magnum) Manurhin RMR (license-made Ruger Security-Six) revolver, 9×19mm Beretta PM-12SD submachine gun, 5.56×45mm Humbert AMD assault carbine (license-made Ruger AC-556) and 7.62×51mm Steyr SSG 69 sniper rifle.

The 9×18mm Izhmekh PMM-12 pistol began replacing the 9×18mm Izhmekh PM Makarov as standard army pistol in 1994. For use against foes in body armor, the 9×21mm Tzniitochmash SR-1 Gyurza pistol was adopted. The 9×18mm Izhmekh PB sound-suppressed pistol is used for assassination and sentry removal, as is the 7.62×42mm Tzniitochmash PSS Vul silent pistol. The 5.45×39mm Izhmash AK-105 assault carbine was adopted to replace the 5.45×39mm Tulamash AKS-74U, but it is unclear if it was acquired in any numbers. The 5.45×39mm Tulamash AKS-74UB assault carbine is a sound-suppressed version of the AKS-74U. All these are in the process of replacement by the 7.62×39mm KBP OTs-14 Groza assault carbine. The standard 5.45×39mm Izhmash AKS-74 airborne assault rifle with folding stock is still in the inventory. The 9×39mm Tzniitochmash ASS Val suppressed assault rifle was adopted in 1992, as was the 9×39mm Tzniitochmash VSS Vintorez suppressed sniper rifle. The 7.62×54mmR Izhmash SVDS sniper rifle is a SVD-variant with short barrel and folding stock. The 5.45×39mm Tulamash RPKS-74 light machine gun with folding stock is used for suppressive fire. The 40mm KBP BP-30 underbarrel grenade launcher will mount under the AKS-74U, AKS-74 and AK-105. The OTs-14 mounts a modified version of it. Portable antitank weapons include the 40mm Kovrov RPG-7D launcher.

Naval Spetsnaz also use the 4.5×39mm Tzniitochmash SPP-1M underwater dart pistol and 5.66×39mm Tzniitochmash APS underwater dart assault rifle.

Since the 1970s the pistol of Russian internal security troops had been the 5.45×18mm Izhmekh PSM. The new standard sidearm appears to be the 9×21mm Tzniitochmash SR-1 Gyurza pistol. In recent years, a number of revolvers has been adopted, among them the big 12.3×50mmR Tzniitochmash UDAR revolver, which can fire ball, plastic baton and tear gas rounds. Several compact machine pistols are in the inventory, including the 5.45×18mm KBP OTs-23 Drotik, 9×18mm KBP OTs-27 Berdysh, 9×18mm KBP OTs-33 Pernad and 9×18mm Zlatoust PP-91 KEDR machine pistol. The primary weapon of shock troops is the 5.45×39mm Tulamash AKS-74U assault carbine, which is in the process of being replaced by the 9×39mm KBP OTs-14 Groza assault carbine. The 9×39mm Tzniitochmash ASS Val suppressed assault rifle and 9×39mm Tzniitochmash VSS Vintorez suppressed sniper rifle are both in use. Other sniper rifles include the 7.62×54mmR Izhmash SVD and 7.62×54mmR KBP SVU. The 23×75mmR KS-23 pump-action shotgun is also in use. In early 2000, the police in Nottingham was the first police force in the UK to have armed officers patrol the city. They field 9×19mm Walther P990 pistols and have 9×19mm H&K MP5SF2 semi-automatic carbines for backup in their patrol cars.

The Pathfinder Platoon

The Pathfinders use standard issue 9×19mm FN-Browning L9A1 pistols, 5.56×45mm Enfield L85A1 (SA-80) assault rifles and 7.62×51mm Enfield L7A2 machine guns. However, most pathfinders prefer the 5.56×45mm Colt AR-15A2 Model 705 assault rifle over the troublesome L85A1, many of which are fitted with 40×46mmSR Colt M203 underbarrel grenade launchers.

Land Rover 110 Defender 4×4 vehicles are used for ground insertion, each being armed with two L7A2 machine guns.

22 Special Air Service Regiment (SAS)

The standard sidearm since the late 1980s is the 9×19mm SIG-Sauer L105A1 (P226), often used with the optional 20-round magazine. A custom-made variant of this, the 9×19mm SIG-Sauer L106A1 (P226K), has a shortened slide. The compact 9×19mm SIG-Sauer L107A1 pistol (P228) is in service since 1992. For close-quarter assault, the 9×19mm H&K L80A1 submachine gun (MP5K), 9×19mm H&K L90A1 submachine gun (MP5KA1), 9×19mm H&K L92A1 submachine gun (MP5A3) and 9×19mm H&K L91A1 suppressed submachine gun (MP5SD3) have been partly replaced by the 5.56×45mm H&K L101A1 assault carbine (HK53A3). The 18.5×70mmR (12-gauge) Benelli M1 Super 90 semi-automatic shotgun is also used in such situations.

In more conventional military operations, the 5.56×45mm Colt AR-15A2 Model 705 assault rifle is preferred, along with the 7.62×51mm H&K L100A1 battle rifle (G3K), 5.56×45mm FN L108A1 MINIMI and 5.56×45mm FN L110A1 MINIMI-Para light machine gun, 7.62×51mm Enfield L7A2 general-purpose machine gun and 40×46mmSR Colt M203 underbarrel grenade launcher (under AR-15A2 Model 702). The 5.56×45mm Enfield L85A1 assault rifle is used by Territorial Army SAS units and when SAS operators try to pass as normal soldiers. In mid-2000, a number of 5.56×45mm Diemaco C8SFW carbines were ordered (Canadian-built variants of the Colt CAR-15A3). These will mount a 40×46mmSR H&K AG36 underbarrel grenade launcher.

Sniper rifles include the 7.62×51mm H&K PSG1 rifle, 7.62×51mm Accuracy International L96A1 bolt-action rifle, 7.62×51mm Accuracy International AWS suppressed bolt-action rifle, 8.6×70mm (.338 Lapua Magnum) Accuracy International L115A1 bolt-action rifle and 12.7×99mm (.50 BMG) Barrett L82A1 sniper rifle (Model 82A1).

Vehicles include Land Rover 110 Defender utility vehicles armed with L7A2 machine guns. The 8 Flight (Army Air Corps) provides four Agusta A109A helicopters for use with the SAS, while 7 Squadron (Royal Air Force) supplies Boeing Chinook HC.3 helicopters (equivalent to CH-47D) with 7.62×51mm General Electric M134 miniguns. Boeing Chinook HC.4 helicopters (equivalent to MH-47E) are on order, but haven't been delivered yet.

3 Commando Brigade

The marines use standard issue small arms, including the 9×19mm FN-Browning L9A1 (HP-35) pistol, 5.56×45mm Enfield L85A1 IW assault rifle (SA-80), 7.62×51mm Accuracy International L96A1 bolt-action sniper rifle (PM), 5.56×45mm Enfield L86A1 LSW light support weapon and 7.62×51mm Enfield L7A2 GPMG machine gun (license-made FN MAG). The 9×19mm Sterling L34A1 suppressed submachine gun is used by special units, including commandos, recon and forward observer teams. Specialised functions often use 5.56×45mm Colt CAR-15A1 Model 653 assault carbines, 5.56×45mm Colt AR-15A2 Model 705 assault rifles and 40×46mmSR Colt M203 grenade launchers. The 12.7×99mm (.50 BMG) Barrett L82A1 sniper rifle (Model 82A1) is also in service. Portable antitank weapons include the 94mm Hunting L1A4 (LAW-80) light antitank weapon and the 115mm Euromissile MILAN 2 antitank missile.
