This morning some very old reference came to my mind, linking nazis with a charismathic black leader in a rather circuitous way.
So...
A question for the MIB and all the rest
Have you ever read a thing called "The last white man", by Robert E. Howard?
The short story was published here in Italy by a very sinister publisher, in the same series with "Auschwitz, the First Gassing", and the "Treaty on the Superiority of the Aryan Stock", and other stuff about the fact that the Jews fabricated all the stuff about the Holocaust and what else. I found the booklet - later stolen from my collection - at the annual Turin Book Fair in '89, buying it directly from the publisher's boot without knowing all the background, simply as an addition to my REH collection. They also gave me a catalogue that I pocketed without thinking. It was only later that evening, perusing the small book, that I found poor Mrs Howard's boy turned into "a prophet of racial purity", "a master of hard science fiction [what a laugh!] that in the 30s had already envisioned the decadence of the white man", presenting "a dramathic admonition about the incumbent African menace" and loads of other such crap. The volume included an introduction (18 pages or thereabouts) almost offensive in its biographical imprecision [Howard an Aryan? Look at the pics, guys!] and tendentiousness, the story proper (8 pages) and an afterword (25 pages) that if possible is even worse than the introduction. There was also a handful of ink drawings - pretty ugly, or at least very hastily executed.
Honestly, I went through the thing, chiefly out of respect for Howard as a writer and bacause of the old Simpson tenement "I paid it, I have to finish it (and often it's hard)", but it felt incredibly bad. The story is offensive in its simplistic positions, and the learned critics [yeah, right!] babbling about Aryan supremacy in the related articles are scary as hell.
What has all this to do with EH, Humboldt, Karotechia and Delta Green? The short story - that Howard apparently wrote when he was 14 - is the first (that I know of, at least) in which the author exposes his theory - later recycled in the Skull Face serial and countless other occasions - that the African peoples have been patiently waiting all these years for a charismatic leader (sort of a black messiah) to lead them in a great tidal sweep of destruction over the white man's lands.

>Nope, sounds facinating, mail me a copy :)
I can't.
first - somebody "borrowed" my copy and never returned it (bastard!)
second - I would never again come into touch with those guys; I'm too afraid the enraged ghost of my grandfather would come to torment me for having commerce with the Nazis.
But I can summarize it quite fast.
Last white man looking down the valley where the ordes of the black devils are feasting on the remnants of a once proud civilization. The guy is the last of his race and is planning a kamikaze attack on the enemy as the sun rises - very Conan like and all that. While he waits for the sun, he remembers how all this came to pass.
a - appearence of a Black Messiah in Africa
b - Africans united in a single mighty army of fanatics
c - single mighty army equipped by lousy double dealing middle-eastern and Jewish weasels (will be the first one to be swallowed buy the tide. Serves them right)
d - African hordes flood Europe and Asia. The Chinese are the first to go. Proud Europeans (= Brits and Krauts, now allied) try to put up the good fight but have been too lazy to long. Goodbye, old continent. Warlike Japan goes next.
e - when Uncle Sam's turn comes, the boys in blue kick real ass, but they've been undermined by the afroamerican traitors (of course pumped by Jews and other half-bloods) living among them. It's a strenuous fight, but to no avail.
f - now human civilization is falling back to primitive standards and what's left's bound for extinction anyway, as the black hordes are so mindless that they not only do not know how to keep stuff working, but are more willing to kill each other than to reproduce.
So, as the man said, the end is nigh.
Sun rises, white chap goes and buys it.
End of story.
The story is bad - not only in its mindless and aggressive racism, but really badly written - and made me feel filthy for reading it. 14 years old Robert E. Howard was a very unpleasant character.
Now, a note about the Nazi afterword.
First, it was even worst than Howard story.
Second, there was a distinctive glee in the tone of the writer, as she was taking the idea of a monolithic black menace quite seriously, but at the same time felt quite good about the "subhumans" cleaning the map of all those half-assed white men that did not have the guts or the inspiration to pick up their rightful position as overlords of creation. It was this detail that sprang to my mind in the Humboldt discussion.
