Sarah Wood (SarahWood@compuserve.com), 8 October:
Wow! The Folcs at Season 5 did a great job of wrapping up the storyline started in The Family Hour! It was emotionally fulfilling, it was intellectually fulfilling -- lots of twists and paradoxes and it kept dancing along -- it was well-written, it had humor and romance and a villain, A-plot and B-plot, and it managed to wrap up some loose ends beyond the can-they-have-a-baby question, such as will Clark have a "normal" lifespan, and how do their descendants create utopia? There was so much to enjoy! Here are some of the things that struck me the most:
>> "Oh, Martha! I don't know how to be a mother! I know I told you just a few days ago that I was ready, but I'm not! And... and... Clark said we would do it together, but he's not here -- he's never here -- it's just like my nightmare, babies all over the place and Clark thinks having babies is a piece of cake, but I'm the one that has to eat it ..." <<
This was such a Lois babble fit! The continuity of her nightmare was appreciated, too! Nice to see that the issue of Clark's disappearing acts was raised.
>> 'My great-grandson!' Clark thought in baffled grief <<
What a nice touch! Mourning something he never knew he had, not quite understanding why he's feeling what he's feeling.
>> there was a whoosh at the window -- a sound Clark knew he made when he arrived somewhere in the suit, but hadn't heard since the day he met his alternate world self. <<
Another great touch! Of course Clark doesn't hear his own arrivals and departures!
>> The man was hardly adverse to killing people who hindered his plans, but he was very adverse to carrying around a poopy baby <<
ROFL! Can you just picture Tempus wrinkling his nose and not wanting to hold the baby!
>> "H.G. Wells?" asked Elaine.
"Yes."
"The writer."
"Yes."
"Who died over a hundred years ago -- again with the dead people -- what is it with you and dead people?!?" <<ROFL! What a funny exchange! I love that Lori and Elaine (the future wives of future Supermen) are feisty and strong-willed women like Lois!
>> If you don't mind... well... I think I'd rather call you Pops, like they do." Clark nodded toward the two women. He shrugged a little sheepishly at Superman's puzzled look. "There's something kinda special about choosing a name for your kid -- I don't want to miss that!" <<
Awww! I'm feeling all WAFFy! Trust Clark to feel that way.
>>"Well, they say hope springs eternal, especially in the galactically stupid--" began the man.
"In which case, you should be springing leaks," declared Lois. <<Go get 'im, girl!
>> "Cycle?" asked CK. "I have a cycle?" <<
LOL! Such a simple solution/explanation to their problem, and so funny!
>> "Ironic, isn't it? Tempus served as a catalyst to create the very thing he was trying to destroy." <<
God, I love irony! What a neat twist! Kudos once again to author Peace and the entire staff for a beautiful job! I'm not missing the show as much as I was afraid I would. Who knows, we might get a sixth and seventh season out of this!!

I thought Time after time was a wonderful story as well as Back to the Future. I always love a good Lois and Clark story. I have been a member of the nfic list for quite some time and have seen all manner of stories, good and not so good as well as Rhen's archive of stories. This one I loved. You and all of your contributors have done a wonderful job.

A brilliant pair of episodes - this and 'Back to the Future'. Far better than anything in the real fourth series. It's a dreadful shame these won't ever be filmed!
