A Brief History Lesson: Castlevania 101
Well Ya know my Name is Simon....

This month and every months focus is on Konami's Franchise supreme, Castlevania. The Castlevania series has spawned 11 chapters across several platforms, not including the still unfinished Castlevania 3-D for the N64. Traveling across the many systems between 8 bit and 32 bit ages, Castlevania found a home on the original Nintendo, Gameboy, Super Nintendo, the PC-Engine(The Turbo Duo) and even the Sega Genesis(currently the only appearance of a Castlevania on a Sega system). Its latest appearance in the highly acclaimed release of Castlevania: Symphony of The Night for the playstation(psx). This one is a winner folks, don't sleep on it. It is by far one of the most enjoyable gaming experiences you can have. Old school gaming at its best. Ahem! Sorry...got carried away again. With each game came a sort of evolution. Changing elements of the epic, but never straying from the general focus of defeating the forces of evil with but a whip & a will (small exceptions in both Castlevania Bloodlines(genesis) & Symphony of The Night(psx). The Castlevania series is essentially a platform based game(jumping & killing things) although the series has taken some directions into the RPG genre(as displayed in Castlevania 2: Simon's Quest & somewhat displayed in Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse with its companion choices). These puppies are priceless in my book and because of that, I wanna share this joy I have for them with others.

Below you'll find all the tools you'll need to experience the Castlevania saga again(or for the first time). You'll need what's called an emulator for each of the respected system(nes, snes, gameboy, and genesis) and the roms themselves. Fortunately I'll supply you with my personal favorites(nesticle for the nes, snes9x & zsnes for the snes, vitualgameboy for the gameboy, and genecyst for the genesis, and fmsx-dos for the msx). Sorry there are newer versions of both the Nesticle and Genecyst emulators, I'll put them up later. Fortunately the ones that I've supplied are pretty damn good. So you shouldn't have much of a problem.

Disclaimer: In case ya didn't know, it is illegal to keep these ROM images for more than 24 hours unless you own the original game(in this case only for the purpose of having a backup copy or for educational value). Perfectly legal if you own the games(I know I do) and definitely illegal if you don't. Got it! For all you newbies, this means you must destroy all traces of the ROM image after the 24 hours are up. I , nor my site provider Fortunecity take no responsibility for your actions before, during or after you enter this page. If the Feds come knockin' at your door, ain't my fault, Dig? Thank you.
