The Jawas

The Jawas are small creatures who live in the desert of Tattooine. Their features are never revealed as their bodies are hidden beneath heavy brown cloaks and gloves. The only visible part of the actual Jawa is the luminous eyes who shine brightly from inside the hood. A theory is that the Jawas don such outfits because they are sensitive to the burning sunlight. Their enormous Sandcrawlers are almost devoid of any interior illumination. Jawas are tinkerers. They barter with mechanical scrap, second hand droids and appliances that are scattered and lost throughout the desert. They are also known to be thieves and scavengers, but have never been known to attack civilized creatures. Jawas are everywhere on Tattooine. They are often seen at Jabba the Hutt's palace providing scrapmetal for vessels and broken droids for the palace household staff. They are also active in Mos Eisley Spaceport, conducting business with barterers and smugglers. They are considered to be a nuissance by most races on Tattooine, and are often shunned in the more civilized bartering areas in the city. The Jawa tongue is generally known by the remote residents of Tatooine. Even though the moisture farmers find the Jawas annoying, they depend on the traders for new parts and appliances. A trip to the city is considered both hazardous and time consuming. The Sandcrawler Jawas often travel from farm to farm offering their products.

Tusken Raiders

The Tusken Raiders, or Sandpeople as they are most commonly referred to, are an odd lot. They live as nomads and travel in great numbers across the Dune Sea and the outer reaches. The Raiders are clad in rags and mysterious technology like binocular glasses, ferocious-looking vaporators strapped to the mouth, and strange sensors surrounding their scalp. Like the Jawas, the Tusken Raider's features are well hidden in their outfits, and few know the true race behind the camouflaged sandpeople. Some say they are bands of several races brought together by common fate. Others claim they are androids. Others again claim they are the renegade remains of Imperial Desert Troopers from the years of the Clone Wars.
One thing is certain, they are uncivilized to the point of being barbaric, they attack settlements or loners in the outback desert in hit-and-run raids. They are cowardly and always fight in superior numbers than their victims. The Tusken Raiders are anti-social beings and are hated by every race on Tattooine. They do not barter, they don't offer services nor do they provide knowledge or ideas for the common good of the desert dwellers. The Tusken Raiders are entirely self serving and self sufficient.
The Raiders carry the strange Gaffi sticks, a cross between a concussion weapon and a blade. They are also armed with rifles, but have poor markmanship. The Sandpeople ride on Banthas, huge beasts that resemble a crossbreed between a mammoth and a goat. They hunt in single file to hide their numbers.

The Ugnaughts

The Ugnaughts are minute boarlike humanoids who live in scattered locations throughout the Bespin System. The Ugnaught homeworld is unknown to most, some say they are genetically engineered to work in the Tibbana Gas Mines. However the Ugnaughts proved to have resources beyond that of gas derivasion. A number of these creatures live and work in Cloud City as technicians, blacksmiths, and garbage disposal workers. The Ugnaughts resemble the Jawas in more ways than one: They are tinkerers, second-hand-minded and generally annoying. The main difference between the Jawas and the Ugnaughts is that the Ugnaughts prefer domestic employment, rather than being self-employed. The Cloud City Ugnaughts live in the lower regions of the floating city, referred to as "the dungeons" by the other citizens. They keep to themselves most of the time. The other races generally shun the creatures, unless they have a technical problem which the droids cannot fix. They have no leader but are organized through the Ugnaught Workers Union, giving their employers frequent problems with strikes and lockouts. The Cloud City Ugnaughts enjoy bullying the other citizens and are commonly known as mischievious. This would explain Chewbacca's struggle to get all the pieces of C-3PO back from the furnace chamber. However the Ugnaughts avoid violence, and never carry weapons.

Jabba the Hutt

Jabba the Hutt was the feared crime lord on Tatooine. His father was a also a crime lord before him. The Huttese are some of the longest living species in the galaxy, reaching an age of several thousand years. Jabba himself is reckoned to be 700 years old. The bloated bodies of the Huttese rely greatly on transportation. The Huttese weigh several tons and move like overweight snakes. They are also somewhat immune to mental influence of the force. The reason behind this remains unknown. Jabba resided in a palace in the outer reaches of Tatooine. The palace once served as a monastery to a brotherhood of monks, who now live in the underground levels. The monastery was redesigned by Jabba into a virtually impenetrable fortress. Jabba's major domo Bib Fortuna was always at his side, giving advice and announcing visitors. The Twi'lek was a nervous sort who lived to please his master. His pet jester Salaccious Crumb was only alive because he made his master laugh. Jabba had a royal guard of Gamorreans guards. They swore legiance to the Hutt after being outwitted in combat by being beaten and clubbered blindfolded. Jabba's court was crawling with members of the professional underground who flocked to Jabba to undertake his generous assignments, or simply join in the party of the planet. Jabba had entertainment and music much sought after and traded narcotics that were outlawed in most systems. His musical employees, the Max Rebo band were renowned and played for board and keep. The band were among the few survivors after the Sail Barge destruction. The dancer Oola was not so fortunate. The female Twi'lek met her death in the jaws of the Rancor beast in the palace dungeon, after refusing her master's desire for affection. Jabba had bounty hunters all over the galaxy and traded frequently with illicit spice from the Kessel system. One of the fortune seekers was Han Solo, but he fell from grace when he dumped his shipment of spice during an imperial boarding. Boba Fett took on the assignment to recover Solo and was accompanied by 4-LOM Bounty Droid, IG-88 Assassin Droid, Bossk and Dengar. Boba Fett became a rich man and the top henchman in the palace after delivering the carbon-frozen Solo before the Hutt. Jabba died on his sailbarge when his slave girl, princess Leia Organa, strangled him with her chain. Jabba's criminal society crumbled to dust after his demise.

Boba Fett

Boba Fett was one of Jabba the Hutt's head henchmen. Boba was a seasoned warrior and a mercenary with a high price tag. Fett was human, and concealed his features in a light body armour with many special devices including a harpoon sling, and a rocket backpack. His sidearm was also custom designed.
It is speculated that Boba Fett once belonged to an elite combat unit, due to his unique battle armour. Lord Vader hired Boba Fett and a team of other bounty hunters to find Han Solo and the rebel leaders after the unsuccesfull raid at Hoth. This was a much welcome assignment to Fett as Jabba the Hutt had offered a high ransom for the capture of Han Solo, when he failed to compensate the crime lord with his dues. It is not unlikely that Boba Fett and Han Solo once were friends. It is certain that they shared the same employer, and the same love for custom designed smuggling ships. Boba's Slave 1 was an oddball of a ship, much like the Millenium Falcon. Han Solo's fall from grace in the crime syndicate proved that love for money had higher standing than loyalty among thieves. Boba Fett was successfull in locating the rebels and brought the carbon-hybernated Han Solo before his master for a wealthy sum. However, his moment of glory proved shortlived and he met his doom in the belly of the Sarlacc, who dwelled beneath the Dune Sea on Tatooine.

Bib Fortuna

Bib Fortuna was the major domo of Jabba the Hutt and of the Twi'lek race. The Twi'leks have pale skin and red eyes. They are hairless and have two thick tentacles sprouting out of their temples. Apart from these differences in appearance, the Twi'leks were very similar to humans. They are initially a neutral race, and are loyal to the cause that follows their destiny. Many Twi'leks chose more noble causes than Bib Fortuna. Tott Doneeta was a Jedi Knight and fought for justice and order along with his friend Ulic Quel-Droma, one of the greatest Jedi Knights in history.
Bib Fortuna's chores in the palace came to announcing guests to his master, and arranging accomodations for the master's visitors. He was an excellent linguist and spoke several languages, including the guttural Huttese. He was also Jabba's advisor on matters of political providence. Bib Fortuna was diplomatic, as is the nature of his race. His cunning mind for diplomacy saved his own neck a number of times, and those of several of his colleagues and acquaintances. However, he failed to subdue Jabba's rage when Oola, the dancing slave, refused to comply to her master's desire for corpulate pleasure. She was fed to the Rancor beast in the dungeons as a spectacle for Jabba's guests. Oola was also Twi'lek, and her relationship to Bib Fortuna remains a mystery. Rumours whispered in the court say she was Bib's wife and that she was offered to Jabba as a dancing slave in compensation for her husband's failure to supply him with adequate dancers. This has never been confirmed. Bib Fortuna was killed when Jabba's sailbarge exploded over the pit of Carkoon, lair to the dreaded Sarlacc.
