Family Reunion kelle36@hotmail.com Part 2 Mystique was going to send Rogue out to retrieve their new family member. But she decided she would check in on her first. So she had visited her 'brother' and asked to see her 'niece'. To her extreme disappointment they informed her that she had been missing now for almost two days. Mystique had sensed that the girl was getting restless being cooped up in the house all the time. But she didn't expect this to happen. Now what was she to do. They would just have to keep an eye out for her on the streets. And that meant that she would go on ahead with her other plans without her. ** Xavier moved down the hallway at a brisk pace. As he entered the war room he looked around. Everyone was here, except for Psylocke and Archangel who were still on vacation. They all took there seats as he entered the room. "So, what's this all about?" Logan asked. Well, nothing like getting right to the point. "As you may have noticed, Rogue has been absent for a while now. Jean and I now have reason to believe that she is in danger." "What?" "What you mean 'danger'?" "Why have you not told us about this?" "Quiet everyone." When everyone had settled down Xavier continued. "We did not tell you because we were not certain whether it was necessary." "Not necessary? She was missing for, what, two days, and you didn't think it was necessary to tell us she was in danger?" Bobby yelled.. "You all know that Rogue has a tendency to run off at times without telling us right away. We wanted to make sure that this wasn't one of those times." Professor Xavier explained. He then signaled Jean to begin. "Well, to make sure that this wasn't one of those times, I did a bit of investigating." She turned to look at Wolverine. "Logan, that's what we were doing on the roof." Then she returned to the whole group. "I had Wolverine go to the last place that Rogue was seen, the roof. When up there he said that he could tell that three people had recently been there, Rogue was one of them, Mystique was another. We now have reason to believe that Mystique came to reclaim her 'daughter'." "So, what do you propose as a course of action?" Beast asked. "We have put Cerebro on constant alert if it should pick up anything we will be notified. But that may not be any help. Rogue, as well as Gambit, has a tendency to slip by Cerebro unnoticed. I have also tried to. ." his explanation was cut off. "There is an incoming call. On screen." It was Rogue. "Hey Professor." "Rogue!? Where have you been?" She didn't seem to hear his query. "Ah was wonderin', could you meet me down town later today? Alone." Well, this was certainly an odd request. "Why do you wish to meet with me Rogue? Why don't you simply come to the mansion?" "It would be easier if you would come to me. Here are the coordinates. Be there." Then as an afterthought, "please." Then she was gone. "Dat didn' sound like Rogue." Gambit observed. "No, no it didn't." ** "Now my daughter, you shall get your chance at revenge." Mystique said as she turned to face Rogue. "But Ah want the whole lot of 'em, not just Xavier." Rogue complained. "Patience. First we must take out there leader, then it will be easier to deal with the rest of them." Rogue was silent for a moment, then spoke up. "Why'd he invite you to the mansion? Ah mean, you when you were me." Shoot. Mystique was hoping that she hadn't seen that. "He was probably trying to lure me into a trap." I hope she buys that. "Oh. But won't he bring his team with him? Why would he come here alone just because Ah asked him to?" "That is a very good point Rogue. While you and I are inside waiting for Charles, I will have some of my men outside in case he decides to bring his little 'team' with him." Then she walked up to Rogue. "Do you remember the new rules, just in case you have to fight?" "Yes. No usin' mah absorption powers and don't listen to a word they say cause they'll jus' try an' trick me. And no talkin'." "Very good." Then she turned towards the door. "Now, let us go and get ready for our little meeting." Hope you enjoyed this part and I look forward to all of the comments I'm sure to get. Hint hint.
