When Marvel Comics launched 2099 The Punisher 2099 was one of the first books out of the gate! Originally written by Pat Mills and Tony Skinner the book starred a Public Eye officer gone Vigilante Jake Gallows. After witnessing his family's murder at the hands of Kron Stone, Jake decided it was time for Justice...Punisher style! In a world where a Black card can pay for your crimes and no one is safe unless they pay for protection this one man stands alone. Together with his pal Matt Axel , Jake drove a path through New York's underworld. He fought some of the most evil and vile criminals of 2099 and won. But as the series drove to a close Marvel made a mistake. In the now famous 2099 one-shot A.D. Apocalypse Jake Gallows was killed. Along with some of 2099's other hero's.
