One of the least known paranormal creatures of the Sixth World, the Shambleau has so far been sighted in many occasions but never positively observed or captured.
Shambleau victims are not easily identified. The main pointers are a dissipated look, severe denutrition and dehidratation, possibly exposure. Complex-pattern cascade failure of the main internal organs is generally the official cause of death.The Shambleau victim is characteristically covered by a sticky, high-protein-content fluid, that according to the scarce accounts is produced by the worm-like tentacles of the creature. The purpose of this fluid is unknown.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Shambleau has been variously interpreted by researchers as a new strain of HMHVV, or as a case of Insect Spirit Possession. Some connection was also made with the Acheri spirit of Amerindian legend, but this line of study was only superficially covered and never followed up.
