Greetings and welcome to the latest addition
to the Mana
Bros.
ludoteque and, consequently, to the web site.
Our very personal relationship with Shadowrun
began
in 1989, when purely
economical
factors convinced us to stay clear of the otherwise extremely attractive,
freshly imported - but expensive as hell - SR First Edition.
In the following years, we still longed for the wonderful
Shadowrun
setting
- whose manyfold marvels could be gleaned from various magazine articles,
sourcebooks and novels, but the Second Edition failed to hit the shelves
at
a more reasonable price - due to some importer's wicked designs, it was still
twice the price of any other RPG on the Italian market.
Finally, many years after, the acquisition of a net
connection made
us
able to break the hold of the importers and their minions, and get a brand
new, pristine copy of the Shadowrun Third Edition.
The Postal Service mislaid the parcel, of course,
so that it wandered
somewhere between Seattle (how appropriate) and Turin for twice the time
it normally takes, and then some. It was reported lost, or stolen.
But in the end, we got it - the 60th RPG in our
collection.
And the system completely bogged us down, killing our game hopelessly
for three
consecutive evenings.
Roleplayers being creatures of habit, we found it
easier to adapt the game universe to a game engine more to our tastes, than
to try and impose again on our players the rigours of the unadulterated SR
system without the support of a laptop computer.
Well, make that, ehm.... four game engines more to
our tastes,
actually.
This page hosts the result of our work so far.
