Sandy Denny was responsible for two musical highlights in my life. The first
one was when I heard Fairport
Covention's "Come all ye" (Liege & lief) for the first time.
After approximately thirty seconds I went out of my head; I couldn't believe what I heard.
It was something completely new. Her somewhat hoarse voice, it was unbelievable. This must
haven been in 1970, but I can't recall the exact time.
The second highlight was a Sandy Denny concert in a sports centre in
Vlissingen, some time in 1973 or 1974. Attended by only a small audience. Flashes of music
and images of this concert still haunt my mind. |
