Configuring Megafont with Winamp       It's assumed you have Windows 95/98, SB Live card, Winamp, Hubi's MIDI Loopback and megafont installed.

(If you haven't them, download Hubi's from here= MAZ Sound Tools (Click "tools/misc"),
megafont from Shareware Music Machine= megafont DOWNLOAD,  
and Winamp from here= http://www.winamp.com/ . 
See my guide to install Hubi's= Hubi's.)

This guide is only for Winamp. 
Each program, a different installation, although alikes. (parecidas).
To configure Winamp to megafont, we need do it in 4 places= Winamp preferences,
system tray,  megafont editor and megafont preferences.

1.  Open megafont.
By default, (opening megafont for the first time),
it will bring you to this "preferences" dialog box:

Click on the "Routes" box.

(It will appear other box like this)

2. Click on "Add". (It will appear to you other box over the first, in blank,
for you assign like this)

3.  If you gotten Hubi's setup right, then "LB1" will appear in this list above.        
Set it up exactly as you see above, then click "OK/Close" and close "preferences"
dialog box.
 

4.  open MEGAFONT EDITOR=
(for those who don't know open editor, go to the system tray were Megafont
is placed and right click, highlight "Editor" and click it as this little screen)

(As always you open Editor, appears a box like this,
to create or edit mappings)

5. Type the name of the soundfont you are looking for to use).
(A 128 presets maximum GM soundfont, percussive and melodic pools,
if you want to deal peaceful to megafont)(that's not easy for sophysticated beginners. Megafont is easy for simple users that do simple configurations, because megafont uses extensively the Registry, and you know, do a mess to Registry drives you easily to intentionally delete and reinstal Windows).  

Click "OK".    (We are creating a mapping for Megafont,
what instruments from what soundfonts).
6.  Go to the directory that you have the GM Soundfont you typed above, click on it (to
high light it) then drag it DIRECTLY to the rightmost window.  (At the rightmost and middle windows will appear all instruments of the GM soundfont bank).  (We don't need the middle window when we attach ALL presets to a mapping. We use the middle window   when we will attach only some preset(s)).
(You will get no conflicts, if you used a 128 presets maximum GM soundfont as I recomend). 
Your editor will look like this screen=

7.  (Now you have a complete mapping of your Soundfont
from which Megafont will manage).

8.  Press "Ctl S" to save the mapping and exit.
 

9.  In the system tray, right click the Megafont icon and click "Turn on":

10.  Last step= Go to Winamp "Plugins Input". 
(Hitting "Ctl P" to bring up "preferences").
Click twice on "Winamp 2 MIDI plug-in vX.XX.  (You will see the boxes below).
 
Select "midOut / LB1" (or your equivalent MIDI cable).  
Change the Volume control to "MIDI" and close "preferences".

      You are now ready to play MIDIs in WINAMP with Megafont.   
                                         

                                    Load and play a GM sequence.  Enjoy.
