AND YET MORE NEWS
"This Is Your Time, This is your dance,
Live ever moment, Leave nothing to chance..."
1998 Artist of the Year Michael W. Smith is in the process of completing
what is shaping up to be one of his best albums to date, THIS IS YOUR TIME.
Slated to release Thanksgiving week (Street date: November 23), this exciting
new album is sure to be one of the hottest releases of the fall.
Look for a feature videos collection this fall with: Secret Amition, Live
The Life, This Is Your Time, and Friends- live version. (subject to change)
When Michael was invited to attend the Columbine High School memeorial service
in Littleton, Colorado, he had no idea the impact the event would have on
his life. Particularly inspiring was the story of Cassie, a student who was
killed for acknowledging her belief in God. The courage of this young woman's
simple testimony at a time when the stakes could be no higher moved Michael
to write "This Is Your Time", the theme song of his upcoming release.
Continuing the theme of "live every moment, leave nothing to chance," Michael
takes us on a musical journey of faith with the help of fellow songwriters
Wes King, Chris Rice, Cindy Morgan and Wayne Kirkpatrick. Produced by Michael
(Producer of the Year), with the help of his longtime friend and collaborator,
Bryan Lennox (Go West Young Man), THIS IS YOUR TIME is pure "Smitty" and
is sure to be quickly embraced by the loyal fans that have made him one of
the best-selling Christian artists of all time.
Song Titles are: This Is Your Time, Anna, I Will Be Your Friend, Everybody
Free, I'm Gone, I Will Carry You, Walk With Me and more.....
THIS IS YOUR TIME
" I went to Littleton to singe 'Friends' at the Columbine Memorial Service
and it was a day that impacted my life greatly. It was so overwhelming
emotionally, that I just had to find a way to cope with it and digest it
all, so I found myself at my keyboard writing music. Meeting Cassie Bernall's
family inspired me the most. Cassie claimed she believed in God and lost
her life for it. I have written a song called, 'This Is Your Time,' which
is a challenge for us all to recognize through Cassie's life, that now is
our time to stand up and live life unabashedly for God."

INFO ON A COUPLE SONGS -
worth it all is upbeat. it is such an awesome song. it is diffferent from
the others though. when i first heard the song i didnt really like it. but
after hearing it a few more times i feel in love with it. then when michael
sang it twice i really wanted the cd.
- Thanks to Brynn for the info
About "Anna," he said that it is FOR SURE going to be on the new album! -
Note: Anna can be heard on Sing Me To Sleep, Daddy
And about "I Will Be Your Friend," it is a really, really good song.
It's now among my favorite MWS songs. Musically, it starts out mildly
slow, then picks up to a good steady beat after the chorus leading into the
second verse. It's slightly (just slighty) faster than "Let Me Show You The
Way" as far as the pace is concerned. The song is co-written by Cindy Morgan.
Also, the song (according to MWS) is now the number one pick for the new
album. MWS said that he wrote the music to the song with his guitar in his
bathroom, sitting on the edge of the tub (with his clothes on)!

I Will Be Your Friend -
This song, I Will Be Your Friend is up and coming on the brand new album,
tentatively titled, "This Is Your Time".
I WILL BE YOUR FRIEND
Words by: MWS and Cindy Morgan
Music by: Michael W. Smith
So many memories, so many miles.
The road that stretches behind us.
We've had some laughter, and I shared our tears,
but all these moments unite us.
I'll be your friend for a lifetime.
Against the wind and the rain of every season.
Wont' walk away in the hard times.
I will be your friend.
I'm sayin, I will be your friend.
Sure as the river runs to the sea,
high as the mountain that reaches,
you were there by my side till the end.
Help me on my feet again.
I'll be your friend for lifetime,
against the wind and the rain of every season.
Won't walk away in the hard time.
I will be your friend.
I'm sayin I will be your friend.
So when the valleys are gone
don't have to face it alone
cause in the hard times we keep growin strong
as we learn as we live,
as we live and we give,
I'll be your friend for a lifetime.
Against the wind and the rain of every season,
or walk away in the hard times.
I'll will be your friend.
I'm sayin I will be your friend.
I will be your friend.

ANOTHER SONG SIGHTING -
Smitty's been playing a new song lately. He hasn't mentioned a title that
I know of, but Come On People is likely. Thanks to Jon for the info:
It might be the "Rock and Roll Song," or another. All I have to say is that
THIS SONG ROCKED!!! Apparently he wrote part of it for Camp Kanakuk (he might
have said it was for last year's camp), and then worked on the chorus with
Michael Tate from DC Talk (or was it Toby?--I can't remember). It went something
like
Come on, people, I'm talkin' to my brothers
Come on, people, we've got to get together
Come on, people, I'm talkin' to my sisters
(and then came a line with something to the effect of "Reach out and
touch - His love will take you higher)
He taught the chorus to the crowd to sing along, but it was brutally hot
last night, and I'm afraid my brain wasn't functioning at full capacity,
thus the apparent memory lapses when it comes to this song. It's sure to
become a huge hit. Very catchy, very uplifting. In fact, if he hadn't forgotten
one of the lyrics, it was almost worthy of being put on the record as he
performed it last night. I was amazed at how solid everything was considering
it's a new song. Great energy. The song was largely guitar driven, in keeping
with Smitty's latest musical ventures.
Oh, one more important bit, and this I'm sure about. He said that they're
now shooting for a release date of November 23, but they'll have to finish
recording by the end of August. The music has been done for two months, but
he's still struggling with a lot of the lyrics.
Okay, also a little more on This Is Your Time. Here are the full lyrics as
close as we can tell.
*MIDI*
This was a test we could all hope to pass
But none of us would want to face.
Faced with the choice to deny God and live.
For her there was one choice to make.
This was her time, this was her dance,
She lived every moment, left nothing to chance,
She swam in the sea, drank of the deep,
Embraced the mystery of all she could be.
This was her time.
Though you are mourning and grieving your loss,
Death died a long time ago.
Swallowing life so her life carries on.
But still it's so hard to let go.
This was her time, this was her dance,
She lived every moment, left nothing to chance,
She swam in the sea, drank of the deep,
Embraced the mystery of all she could be.
What if tomorrow? What if today?
Faced with the question, oh, what would you say?
This is your time, this is your dance,
Live every moment, leave nothing to chance.
Swim in the sea, drink of the deep,
Call of the mercy and hear yourself praying,
"Won't you save me? Won't you save me?"
This is your time, this is your dance,
Live every moment, leave nothing to chance.
Swim in the sea, drink of the deep,
Embrace the mystery of all you can be.
This is your time, this is your dance,
Live every moment, leave nothing to chance.
Swim in the sea, drink of the deep,
Embrace the mystery of all you can be.
This is your time.

it out. It's around the 33 minute mark. Friends is in between them.

Smitty certainly took his time getting Live the Life out between then and
I'll Lead You Home, but he seems to be making up for it. First of all, Live
The Life was awesome, as everyone knows. Secondly Smitty got out Christmastime
in a hurry after Live The Life (not even 6 months). Now, as shocked, surprised,
and excited as we are, Smitty seems to be on the ball for his 13th album
already! According to Rick Moore (thank you very much, by the way), Smitty
said at one of his concerts that it was supposed to be out [November 23].
He said that he has already picked the songs. One such song is "Leo" which
he mentioned could have a title change before it's all over with.
Here is the chorus to "Leo"
Oh Leo, Oh Leo, Come as you are
Oh Leo, Don't you know I've never been far
Oh Leo, Oh Leo, Come as you are
Into the light of the bright and morning star.
There is also another song written for a young girl who wants to run away
from home. It was a "Rock-And-Roll" song according to Smitty with lots of
guitar and drums. He couldn't remember the words so he just hummed it and
sang the chorus. He never mentioned a name for it.

Provident's key release for fall will be Reunion artist Michael W. Smith's
new studio recording, which will bow in [November]. Also in the writing phase,
Smith has enlisted the lyric-writing skills of Wayne Kirkpatrick, Cindy Morgan,
Chris Rice, Toby McKeehan, Michael Tait and Beth Nielsen Chapman.
Smith told THE CCM UPDATE that one song will be about, and for, one of his
daughters, and another was inspired by his experience with the Columbine
High School tragedy [THE CCM UPDATE, May 10]. Smith will produce the record
with Bryan Lenox (dc Talk, Garth Brooks) who also produced Smith's Go West
Young Man. |
