The story of the Crawlin' Kingsnakes begins in early 1996 when I auditioned for a
variety band called “SYNERGY”. Synergy went through so many personnel changes,
we felt compelled to rename the band “SHORT TOUR”. The name SHORT TOUR carries
a lot of meaning to most of the G.I.’s stationed on the peninsula. A one-year
tour is what most people do here and in the military a one year tour is considered
a “short tour”. SHORT TOUR developed a hard earned following throughout the local
area until the spring of 1998 when SHORT TOUR guitarist Steve Timmons, (Great person,
great guitarist, still miss you) got orders to go back to the states. Enter his
replacement; Brent Guglielmino. I had already pushed Short Tour into doing a large
percentage of blues and some of my original tunes so a straight blues project seemed
like the next logical step. I approached Brent first and he was up for it (little did
I know, he was talking to Billy Evanochko about the same thing), but the rest of the
band was considering doing more Rock and Alternative. Brent and I decided we were
going to put together a blues project anyway. Jake, the bass player took some
convincing. Billy, who had been sitting in on a few tunes periodically with SHORT
TOUR, was real excited and he came right on board. Last but certainly not least,
we needed a drummer. We got wind that this fantastic drummer (Doc) was on the way
to Korea and we snatched him right off the plane as soon as he arrived. The rest of
the guys in Short Tour went on to form “One Eyed Jack”, a great Rock-n-Roll group
(See them if you get a chance, you won’t be disappointed). So that’s the story.
The names have not been changed to protect the innocent, they stand guilty of the
blues in the first degree.
