Guitarist Dean Evans and drummer Gary Thomas
started Mandurah band Liquid Night two years ago. Their first taste of
success came with a competition at the Planet nightclub and a gig at the
Lone Star saloon. The band was to break up, but rising from the ashes
came PLAGUE.
With a unique style of thrash/death metal, Plague defies the heavy
metal label. Their layered and intense sound exposes the sometimes limited
formula of heavy rock and metal music and creates a niche in the metal market.
Plague was joined by guitarist Ryan McCormack a year ago, singer Damian
Lutherborrough and bass player Brett Gilbert completed the line-up. After
playing parties and private functions, Plague have received a huge following in
Mandurah. The recent WAMI organized SMASH concert - an all ages gig in Mandurah
- was a sell out event with a huge local support for Plague. Although they
shared the stage with three other Perth bands, Plague was the main drawcard.
Plague's reputation was fostered through supporting bands such as Allegiance
at the Brighton Hotel, Jebidah at the sell out show in Pinjarra,
along side Beaverloop at the recent Sick-Fest and with Choke
at their demo launch at the White Sands Hotel in Perth. With the release
of their self-titled demo CD (recorded at Satellite Studios and engineered by
Nick Hassel) Plague's support is set to grow.
With their individual and distinct sounds, energetic live show and
professional approach, Plague looks set to fulfil their goal of infecting the
world.
