History and Background
The Talk Of The Town Orchestra
Of
Norman, Ok
The Talk of the Town Orchestra was formed in 1988 as a volunteer organization. Its purpose is to keep alive the big band tradition and to bring that kind entertainment to Oklahoma City Area Nursing homes, Senior Citizen Centers, Hospitals, Civic Clubs, and Social Service Agencies. The original Band Members were mostly from the University of Oklahoma Community. Since its start we have evolved into a first rate community orchestra and today play for a variety of functions across the state of Oklahoma.
We have a 1000 tune book of big band arrangements that encompass swing, jitterbug, ballads, waltzs, latin, polka, dixieland, blues, country & western, two-step, patriotic, and gospel styles ranging throughout the 20th century. We can play an entire program from a particular era, perfect for class reunions.
The right size and style of orchestra for your special occasion can be booked. We can do everything, from pep bands, to combos, to dixieland, and of course big band music.
