Catamenia are a Black Metal band from Finland and they have now released their third CD.
Now you may wonder where the difference between them and all the other nordic Black Metal
bands is. Well, I suppose that there aren't too many. Catamenia play an excellent kind of
bombastic Black Metal, but Old Man's Child or Borknagar have done similar music already before.
I don't know the two first CDs by Catamenia, but in an interview they told me that the new
songs are more melodic and less keyboard orientated. 'Eternal Winter's Prophecy' definitely
contains lots of keyboard passages, but they are integrated into the songs in a very harmonic
way. Catamenia surely are not the most original band from Finland, but listening to their
CD is nevertheless not an unpleasant experience. My favourite tracks are 'Blackmension' and
'Half Moons, Half Centuries', but everyone may discover his personal faves. By the way, the
drummer on this CD is a Impaled Nazarene musician.
