I still remember how surprised I was when I heard the first notes by
Dying Fetus on their third
album 'Killing On Adrenaline'. This was so far the fastest and most extreme band I've
ever heard. Now they have released their fourth album 'Destroy The Opposition' already
on the fourth label. My first impression of the new songs was that they weren't as
fast as those on the predecessor. Maybe it's just a personal statement because the band
name and song titles like 'Born In Sodom' or 'Pissing In The Mainstream' indicate the way
that Dying Fetus want to go. They don't have the intention for any musical or lyrical
compromises. An extreme mixture of Death Metal and Grindcore, combined with the sickest
and strangest possible vocals is surely to brutal for the masses. And I shouldn't forget
to mention that Dying Fetus often included playful guitar passages in their music, as you
may very well hear out on the title track. Even if I preferred 'Killing On Adrenaline' to
this album, 'Destroy The Opposition' is still much more than just average, it's even a bright
star on the extreme music heaven (or shall I say hell?).
