There's no denying it: the first impression I got from 'We Are Born Of Hate' was that this
can only be a band from Sweden. Although the label (Distortion Records) and the bandname
suggest purest crust core, Genocide SS (SS stands for Society System by the way) include
also other musical styles into their music. Basically it's a mix between old Swedish crust
and primitive, antisocial trash punk. As the band is a threepiece, all instruments have
an equal weight on the songwriting process which again bears similarities to Motörhead,
although Genocide SS are much dirtier of course. The album contains fifteen own songs plus two
coverversions which are a very interesting remake of the Joy Division's 'They Walk In Line' and
a rock'n'rolling 'Crazy Motorcycle' (originally by Rough Male). The eighteenth song is something
like a hidden bonus track and can be considered as the band's anthem. All in all the album kicks
ass if you're into really primitive punk trash crust stuff, but the few lyrics that are printed
in the booklet are so bad that you better not even start reading them. Let's hope the lyrics
are just a gimmick and not the band's real philosophy of life. By the way, Genocide guitarist is
also active in Sweden's crust kings Nasum, according to the information provided by the label.
Considering the fact that the album has been recorded in only thirteen hours on May 1st 1999,
you get a bunch of songs that sound spontaneous, dirty and butt-kicking at the same time.
