Biography
Dios Elefante
Heavy Mexican
Dios Elefante comes straight out of the young, raw Spanish Music scene that is steadily growing in Phoenix, AZ. Dios Elefante grabs from a simpler time and calls back to a day when it was all about attitude and some really kick ass punk rock. Although Dios Elefante is a Rock en Español band they are not afraid to play right along with their Anglo counterparts. Often times leaving their non-Spanish speaking crowd just as excited as if they understood what was going on. But don't be quick to classify them as just another punk band-their dark and heavy grooves combined with vocals that go from sweet and calm to frenzied and chaotic make them anything but your average punk band.
Formed in July of 1998 Dios Elefante is the premiere Chicano/Spanish rock band in Phoenix. These four little cherubs, with their unique style of punk, are sure to worm their way into your heart -or at least your esophagus.
Dios Elefante is:
Whether it's playing catch with a homeless child or serving as a peace and goodwill ambassador to warring nations, Jerry gives until it hurts. Hailing from Los Angeles, CA, Jerry is so calm and angelic sometimes we have to touch him just to make sure he's real. His highly creative riffs can be mellowly pleasing to shockingly disturbing sometimes all in one song.
Julio hails from Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mex. Drawn to us by creative forces beyond his control he is the frenetic energy behind Dios Elefante. “El Animal,” as he's known to his friends, is the newest member of the band, but with his rhythmic, driving, heavy drum beats (and loud mouth) he's settled comfortably into the make-up of Dios Elefante.
Joe is the creative backbone for the musical content of Dios Elefante. He's always grumpy and moody but he's a hell of a bass player. His surreal yet pounding bass lines accompanied with Julio's steady hard rock driving drum beats melt into a Punk Rock unison that has to be seen to truly be appreciated.
At the tender age of 13, Leticia set out to seek her fortune as a Merchant Marine. After putting in three years of service she left to join the circus where she performed as the juggling, dancing bear but was soon asked to leave due to her wild political beliefs (and the fact that she wasn't a bear - a shame she has to live with every day). So, being cast out as a misfit among misfits, she sought solace in the creation of Dios Elefante and has been raising it ever since.
