Bryan Holland aka Dexter, Vocals and Guitar
Ron Welty, Drums
Kevin Wasserman, Guitar
Greg Kiegel, Bass
The band
started one day when Dexter and Greg tried to get into a Social Distortion
show. When they didn't get in the show they decided that they would start
their own band, They started a band they but didn't own any instruments.
They
formed a band called Manic Subsidal in 1984 with Dexter, Greg, and two
other men who aren't in the band now. Ron Welty became drummer when he
begged Dexter to replace the old drummer for Manic Subsidal because he
was missing a lot of gigs. Kevin became guitarist after the gutarist from
Manic Subsidal decided to quit.
So the
band now consisted of Dexter, Ron, Kevin, and Greg. In 1989 they decided
to
change there name from Manic Subsidal to Offspring, which led to the release
of there debut album in 1989. From here on they tried to get a better record
company to sign them and after a lot of rejections they found Epitaph.
Even Epitaph rejected them at first. With them they release Ignition in
1992. Two years later they released Smash which ended up being a really
big hit by selling 8,000,000+. But conflicts fled around, Epitaph tried
to make them something Offspring didn't wanna be so Offspring left Epitaph.
Now they came into Columbia, under Columbia they realesed Ixnay on the
Hombre and all albums after that.

Here is just a few of The Offsprings major songs....well my favourites anyway.
Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)
You know
it's kind of hard
Just
to get along today
Our subject
isn't cool
But he
fakes it anyway
He may
not have a clue
And he
may not have style
But everything
he lacks
Well
he makes up in denial
So don't
debate, a player straight
You know
he really doesn't get it anyway
He's
gonna play the field, and keep it real
For you
no way, for you no way
So if
you don't rate, just overcompensate
At least
you'll know you can always go on Ricki Lake
The world
needs wannabe's
So do
that brand new thing
He needs
some cool tunes
Not just
any will suffice
But they
didn't have Ice Cube
So he
bought Vanilla Ice
Now cruising
in his Pinto, he sees homies as he pass
But if
he looks twice
They're
gonna kick his lily ass
Now he's
getting a tattoo
He's
gettin' ink done
He asked
for a '13', but they drew a '31'
Friends
say he's trying too hard
And he's
not quite hip
But in
his own mind
He's
the dopest trip
So don't
debate, a player straight
You know
he really doesn't get it anyway
He's
gonna play the field, and keep it real
For you
no way, for you no way
So if
you don't rate, just overcompensate
At least
you'll know you can always go on Ricki Lake
The world
needs wannabe's
The world
loves wannabe's
So let's
get some more wannabe's
And do
that brand new thing
Self Esteem
I wrote
her off for the tenth time today
And practice
all the things I would say
But she
came over
I lost
my nerve
I took
her back and made her dessert
Now I
know I'm being used
That's
okay man cause I like the abuse
I know
she's playing with me
That's
okay cause I got no self esteem
We make
plans to go out at night
I wait
till 2 then I turn out the light
All this
rejection's got me so low
If she
keeps it up I just might tell her no
CHORUS
When
she's saying that she wants only me
Then
I wonder why she sleeps with my friends
When
she's saying that I'm like a disease
Then
I wonder how much more I can spend
Well
I guess I should speak up for myself
But I
really think it's better this way
The more
you suffer
The more
it shows you really care
Right?
Yeah yeah yeah
Now I'll
relate this little bit
That
happens more than I'd like to admit
Late
at night she knocks on my door
Drunk
again and looking to score
Now I
know I should say no
But that's
kind of hard when she's ready to go
I may
be dumb
But I'm
not a dweeb
I'm just
a sucker with no self esteem
CHORUS
