A little bit about me... I was graduated from Seton Hall University in 1986 with a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing. I worked as a staff nurse, Supervisor and Director of Nursing all by the time I was 25. While on my way to an emergency call, my car was struck by a car driven by an intoxicated driver. I received several injuries including a herniated spinal disc in my lower back. The disc required surgery and unfortunately, 6 weeks after surgery, I was in a second car accident. This time it was just some fool in a hurray, who hit my car while he was changing lanes. Besides complicating my the surgery I had, there was some further damage to my spinal cord. I spent some time as an outpatient at Kessler Rehab. (Hello! to my friends at the gym)
I am blessed in that I can still walk, but I have difficulty walking, chronic pain and some other problems. Despite this, I am happy. I am blessed with a wonderful husband, Alberto. We were married on February 14, 1999. I have two beautiful children, Michael, 12 and Florinda, 8. We share our home with two cats, Fletcher and Allie and a cockatiel named Pearl. Together, we are a family.
I have also been blessed with many friends, especially those that I have met on CU SeeMe as well as two very good friends from "the olden days" on the State of New Jersey, Department of Human Services Bulletin Board Service which has gone the way of the 1200 baud modem. Marc, Lorraine and I still stay in touch via ICQ and get together regularly for dinner and fun.
I keep active with MOCEANS Independent Living Center, volunteering to coordinate the Disability Awareness Through Education (D.A.T.E) Program. I am active with the New Jersey State Office on Disability Services. I am Vice Chairperson of the Personal Assistance Services Program Advisory Council, serve as a Co-Chair of the Council's Program Planning Subcommittee, and do some consulting work as an Assessor for the PASP program in Monmouth County.
I enjoy old movies,
sushi, good
wines, the ocean, being with my
family, my PC and
music. My musical taste is varied. I like Country
music, Andrea Bocelli,
Opera, and Classical.
