Shannon Hoon
This section of the page is Dedicated to Shannon Hoon, whom I think was
a great person and role model who lived his life like he wanted, and tried
his best to achieve his goals, but most important he knew who he was and
where he came from. That made him the person he was, unchangeable, idealistic
and free.

I'm
gonna go outside for a little while
Mom and Dad I'm gonna ride life
for a thousand miles till I find what's mine.
Brothers and Sister, what lives we have
come to know,
Thy have watched us grow to the sky
More pain from some of us than others,
But still we all survived through the
times, your only half's but all of
mine, in my heart.
I feel is time I let you know,
Now that all of us are apart and out
on our own, I may not call that much
But your with me in my soul, your my
Family... and I love you.
This poem was wrote by Shannon, and he
sent a copy to each member of his family. Anna read this poem on Shannon's
funeral.
I'm not going to get into Shannon's death, because
I feel he should be remembered for what he was when he was alive, but I'm
going to give you a few pointers for if you want to know more about him.
He was buried in Dayton Cemetery, The bus where he was found dead, is still
in use and the band that had it next is called Wilco. Shannon had a house
where he planned to live with his daughter Nico and his girlfriend Lisa,
and open an antiques store, the house is located near his mothers house
in Indiana. Also Shannon had some sort of connection with Kennedy, Jimi
Hendrix, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and even Kurt Cobain... maybe it was
a coincidence or maybe he knew what destiny awaited him...
The most important piece of information you
can read, is an article written by Chris Heath, a writer who toured with
the Melons for a while, you can find this on the Nico CD or in the July
1996 issue of Details Magazine. Also the New York Times obituary page,
Oct., 23, 1995.
