MELLISSA - This is a girl you don't want to play around with.
Perhaps you may have heard of her. She has scared a lot of surfers on the
Internet. WHY?  Because she is a virus that can cause problems for Net
'surfies'
IF  you have a an updated virus checker, you have nothing to worry about   In most cases the commercial Internet users are the ones targeted.
AN  attachment in an e-mail,a file loaded from a disk or the Internet can    have a virus contamination which your virus checker will clean off automatically. Don't forward Virus Warnings  through e-mail, they only cause unnecessary panic among our new users. In most cases they are hoaxes. If you don't have an updated  virus checker on your computer then you can use our on-line one to check your P.C. for the latest viruses.

    WE
are averaging 100 people daily through our
SeniorNet Chat Community and we have sixteen websites on our SeniorNet Webring. We now have Evaluation and Application forms on our Website. Our SeniorNet Gossip Chat Community is open at the center on Mondays and Thursdays between 12-2p.m. during the Internet courses for people to help out students from their homes. I chatted to Telecom's Grant Sidaway on the PowWow program following his visit. He is looking into
new technology that will help bring our network to 100% efficiency.

                                            GENEALOGY

WE RAN a Pilot Course in Genealogy recently. The purpose was to; test the Brother's Keeper program, decide on the length and gauge the degree of difficulty. Lew Dawson was the tutor. The five people involved enjoyed the experience and mastered the process in four, two-hour, sessions. The verdict was
a recommendation to offer the course next term. Eight hours seems sufficient to understand the process of entering up the data. After that simply entering family details as they come to hand is an on-going process.A good use for Practice Time
Course Fees have been set at $20 for members. Notes are not required but SeniorNet has to pay $100 to register as a program user. Anyone interested?
