| TRIO FRANÇOIS BOURASSA: "CACTUS" |
|
Cactus is the fourth
recording by the Trio François Bourassa, one of Canada's busiest and most popular jazz
groups. In addition to François Bourassa, Yves and Guy Boisvert, the musicians are joined
on Cactus by saxophonist André Leroux, a very strong, sensitive player who brings
together something very strong and musical. Playing together for so long, the group is
both greater than the sum of its parts, yet the individual players are enhanced by the
group as well. "François Bourassa wrote all seven compositions included on this recording, which are a unique amalgam of jazz and modern classical music. The diverse influences and the lovely deep resonances of the trio, which has an identifiable sound of its own, create a cerebral excitement for this music." Bret PRIMACK, October 98 |
