A sultry singer with a lot of spunk, who for several years now has been a recognized name in Japan's jazz circuit is now becoming a more and more popular jazz vocalist on the North American market.

Born in Manila, Philippines, with a gifted voice and a natural love to perform in front of audiences she started singing at an early age. Her experiences from school to social functions on to small clubs and concert halls steadily nurtured her upbringing as an artist.

Charito, whose petite stature belies her impressive vocal strength and dexterity has been acclaimed as one of the most powerful and talented artists in Japan. She now has six albums to her credit with most recordings done in L.A. and New York.


A GREAT PERFORMER
Charito's career began its highlights in 1990 after her first album, This Girl was launched by Nippon Crown '91, being the first foreign artist under their label.This opened more doors for her followed by her next albums commercial successes.

More than anything, her experiences working with top notch musicians in the likes of Harry Whitaker, Alex Blake and Wallace Rooney in Swing My Way, Maurice White (Earth, Wind & Fire), Terumasa Hino in Shades of Love; Cornell Dupree, Buddy Williams, David Espinozza in Love of My Life, has added prestige to her work and has helped in making her a figure in today's music world.

This talented artist has already entranced the North American audience during a 1995 tour in Chicago, New York, Ottawa, Toronto and Montreal. She has also toured Korea, Shanghai, Hongkong, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand and Taiwan as vocalist for the Asian Jazz All Stars making her mark as a world class act.

She did a show at the Montreal Jazz Festival in July 1996 where she performed before a 70,000 audience (a first for a Philippine artist). Her album Forevermore was also released in Canada and the US at the same time.

She was part of the the Lost Chart Ensemble in a Canadian tour and for the second time at the Montreal Jazz in June 1997. She has recently recorded two albums , one pop and one jazz A Time For Love.
