At the same time accessible and eclectic,
acoustic and electric, familiar and exotic, contemporary and nostalgic, the original
repertoire of renowned violinist Helmut Lipsky's haunting album is situated somewhere
between the profane and the sacred, at the intersection of separate musical worlds. He is
joined in complicity by singer Karen Young, keyboard player Yves Léveillé, double bassist Jean-François Martel and drummer Jacek Kochan. It is music of astounding creativity and lyricism that foreshadows the music of the future. «Helmut Lipsky succeded in creating a violin sound that is truly original and that distances itself resolutely from the traditional jazz-violin, owing a lot to his classical training» Voir, Montreal Write to Helmut Lipsky: helmut.lipsky@sympatico.ca |
