TUESDAY NIGHT, NOVEMBER 11, 8.15 PM 1975
The Concert Hall is hushed as the lights go down and the stage is dark, suddenly bubbles fall from the ceiling above the stage, first red , green then all the colours of the rainbow. The lighting is raised slowly as the band kicks slowly into 'Venus and Mars' , then picks up the pace and 'Rock Show' is belted out with fervour, the crowd roars with delight as the band rocks into 'Jet', 'Let Me Roll It' and 'Maybe i'm Amazed', by this time I am well and truly spellbound and remember thinking, "if this is only one of the beatles". Mc Cartney then does a sit-down bracket including 'I've Just Seen A Face,Blackbird,Yesterday', by which time the crowd is completely blown away and going wild. The band comes back on stage and the pace is once again picked up with songs like 'Lady Madonna'. The concert is by now well and truly rocking and the concert is finished off with songs like, 'Letting Go,Band On The Run and Hi! Hi! Hi!'.
A lot of years have passed since then and my musical tastes have gone in many different directions, however I still fondly remember that night's performance as one of the best, if not the best I have ever seen. As others have said "Seeing Paul Mc Cartney and his band,Wings in concert is the final proof that The Beatles were the most amazing rock band the world has ever seen".
