Sled Dog Trails - Mary Shields' book was my introduction to mushing literature, and her sensitivity to the land makes it still one of my favorites.
Winterdance - Gary Paulsen This is an incredible book! If you have a sense of humor and you enjoy running dogs you must read this book. If you have a sense of humor and you have never run dogs before, I guarantee that after reading this book you will consider running sled dogs.
Cold Oceans - Jon Turk This book has a section called Dog Sledding On Baffin Island. It is an interesting book about the author and his adventures. The author moved to Alaska with his children, and he picked up various dogs to make a sled team. After training he went to the Arctic via a dog team, with an interesting companion.
