ABOUT THE SONGS

Adrenaline Rush
Sparticus's first single, played at the Metro Dance Club in April. Then released in a new version on the album. A powerful song which features myself on strong, rhythmic, and distorted vocals against faster-than-light drums, as it is flooded with harmony. A perfect selection for the album's opener. You can download the entire song as an MP3 file by clicking here. If your looking for the lyrics, click here.
The intro is from the movie That Thing You Do!, written and directed by Tom Hanks. This movie made me want to play drums and has been a major influence in my music career. The origin of the name Sparticus actually came from this movie too! Check it out!

The Technique 1st & 2nd Movements
The Technique was a huge and awesome adventure in my techno quest. Which is why there are two tracks to this song. The voice counting down is a computer voice, with applied effects.  Download the first movement single here.

Merl
I named this song after my grandpa Merl Brookhart, for no particular reason. It's super fast and packed with bass and swishy sound effects. An awesome track.

Tangerine
I sat down one day and ate a tangerine. I thought, 'Man these are good- I'm gonna make a techno song called Tangerine!' And boy did I! It turned out to be just as I imagined- a fast paced, energetic song. Tangerine has hyper fast drums, bass rhythms, harmonies, and stereo effects. DJ Jonathan Williams at the Metro Dance Club has personally told me this track is perfect! Thanks!

SparticusXL
Another good track in the same style as The Technique. I was inspired to do this after watching the Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim play live at Redrocks, Colorado.

Icarus
It begins with ocean waves rushing up against a sandy beach. Then beautiful harmonies begin to fade in and a nice, slow drum beat makes this groove very soothing and relaxing. Then...all of a sudden- BOOM!!! Midway through the song the tempo double-times with lightning fast drums and synths. Then it slows back down to lower your blood pressure. Ahhhh.

Embassy
It has an awesome piano and harmonic line to it, with a sound effect loop I recorded from an old Nintendo game. It also has a huge bass drum that pushes the decibels to the limit. Dan Gudorf is featured on this song, playing a bass drum rhythm that rocks the house. For best play quality, I recommend listening over headphones with Dynamic Bass Boost, or really good speakers. Fluke fans will find a special surprise at the end of this song...

Tuesday Groove
Not much of a story to this one. I just finished it on Tuesday and didn't know what to call it. It has this phone dialing melody on it, which supplies additional pulse to the song. There's this bird call noise running (mostly) all throughout the song. If you can't hear it, you will at the very end...

White Rabbit
A laid back, but powerful and mysterious track inspired by the movie The Matrix. Features Dan Gudorf on Bass Guitar.

Soft As Rain
Every album needs a makeout song, especially at the end. Written for a special girl out there... As wonderful as the times were troubled, I don't regret meeting you...
