This CD is the first bit of ear candy to be released in the Omni Era. It kicks off with a two second intro. There's this jet like sound that pans in stereo from left to right and then silences with the word SPARTICUS. Click here to hear I Am Sparticus.
The CD goes right into Squirt (Sparticus Mix), which is a remix song from Sparticus's favorite techno band- FLUKE. Alex added his own drums, sound effects, bass drum rhythms, and vocals. Alex recorded his own version of the same lyrics, while remaining true to the drunken, crazy, yet awesome sound that Fluke leader Jon Fugler did for the vocals of the original 1997 classic Squirt. This track is so wicked!
Since Fluke is the style of techno that Alex is taking Sparticus into for Omni, he thought it appropriate to open up the Omni era with a remix of Fluke. If you like this track, go to Fluke's website to buy their best CD Risotto. They're on the same record label, Astralwerks, as the famous Chemical Brothers and Fatboy Slim.
The end of Squirt (Sparticus Mix) bleeds right into the beginning of Lodestar, an early version of a track from the new album, Omni. This is a great, relaxing track. Futuristic drum'n'bass with harps and vibra bells, mixed with Alex's spacey, echoed vocals show just how incredible Sparticus is. For Omni, he wants to emphasize the fact that techno can make songs, not just dance tunes to play in clubs. It has evolved way past that, as explained through Lodestar.
Then, as a throwback to N->R->G, a track from that album was taken directly off, unremixed or resampled. The acclaimed The Technique - 1st Movement closes things down at a pulsing 135 beats per minute. The CD ends with the same two-second intro track. This is one tight CD!
