What can you give to a man who has everything?
Well, for E.T.'s birthday
I gave him a cowboy
made out of washers and bent nails wrapped in a bandanna.
He mounted it to the dash of his bus.

It was indeed
a pleasure to have known Ernest Tubb.
He was a very kind gentleman,
who graciously
included me in his South Texas Tour.

During that time
I was thrilled that he signed my fiddle
(Joline),
with enthusiasm. Unfortunately
she was stolen from Blue Ridge Opry in Texas
and has yet to be found.

Ernest Tubb
was always polite and warm to me.
He deserved the respect that he earned
from all his listeners.
He provided
encouragement
and
inspiration
for many.
Of those I am one
who was encouraged
to continue in my endeavors
toward
music.
For this I am grateful
