"Crossing Over" Airdate and Report
http://www.kissonline.com/currentnews/ While in
New York recently, Gene Simmons filmed a segment
of, "Crossing Over with John Edward," which will
air on or about August 22nd, and will be
syndicated on CBS, NBC, and ABC nationwide (check
your local listing for details). Edward, a
self-proclaimed psychic who says he can
communicate with deceased relatives and friends,
had a one-on-one with Simmons. Simmons, a lifelong
skeptic of the paranormal, and of anyone who's a
self-proclaimed anything, actually had a very
cordial face-to-face with Edward. Both seemed to
enjoy the experience quite a bit.

Spitfire Records Yngwie making history in
China! As it turns out, when Yngwie performed in
Hong Kong last week the Chinese Government had
party members in the audience watching the event.
They were highly impressed. So much so that they
have extended an invitation to have Yngwie be one
of the few Western musicians ever to tour the
whole of China. The comments they made were that
Yngwie's music was not like the typical western
music they hear, but instead contained complex
technique and melodic content which they find
lacking in most modern-day Western music. They
referred to Yngwie as a "modern day Mozart with
electricity". As a guest of the Chinese
Government, Yngwie would be performing both rock
shows and CONCERTOS with the Chinese National
Orchestra in Beijing, Shanghai, Xian, and many
other cities throughout China. Details are being
discussed now with Management to see how
arrangements will be made. No finalized plans have
been made at this time, although the intention is
to be in China during the month of August.
Representatives of the Chinese Government would
accompany Malmsteen at all times. More details to
follow as this historic event unfolds.

ANGEL DUST - http://www.angel-dust.de After an
amazing 5 weeks tour in North America with
Nevermore, Opeth and God Forbid, the German power
metal act Angel Dust is back home working on the
material for their next studio album. The record
is tentatively titled Of Human Bondage and will
present the band in a slightly heavier, more
straight-forward direction than last year's
successful Enlighten The Darkness. The album's
cover will probably feature the angelic
photography courtesy of the well known Austria
artist Gerald Axelrodt (whose work already adorned
the front on Enlighten...) and the recordings will
take place again with producer Siggi Bemm at
Woodhouse Studio starting on August 21st. The
band's current line-up went through some changes
lately, as Angel Dust not only announced the
comeback of their old drummer and founding member
Dirk "Assy" Assmuth (who was out of the band for a
while and replaced by Michael Sticken) as well as
the news of a new guitar-player Ritchie Wilkison
(Demons & Wizards, etc.). Ritchie had already
played guitars for Angel Dust during their
US/Canada tour but is now fully integrated in the
band's line-up as steady member so that he will be
involved with the songwriting for Of Human
Bondage. Ritchie is replacing former axeman Bernd
Aufermann (the band and him parted ways in
friendly terms some weeks ago and he's already
working on his own new musical projects) and will
be coming over to Europe for the next couple of
weeks to join forces with the rest of Angel Dust.
The band's 2001 revamped line-up therefore
consists of: Dirk Thurisch (vocals), Ritchie
Wilkison (guitars), Steven Banx (keyboards), Frank
Banx (bass) and Dirk Assmuth (drums).
Additionally, Angel Dust have been asked to return
to American soil in response to the wholehearted
reaction they received on their first
intercontinental tour: The five-piece is confirmed
to appear at this year's edition of
ProgPower/Earthlink Festival in Atlanta,GA on the
November 9th, playing together with bands such as
Symphony X, Vanden Plas, Dan Swanö's Nightingale,
Kamelot, Spiral Architect and many more.
In other news, the domestic release of their
1998 album, Border Of Reality, was released in the
US on June 12th and includes two bonus tracks (a
Uriah Heep cover and a previously unreleased song
from the Enlighten The Darkness sessions) so make
sure to pick it up while waiting for their next
full-length!
ANGRA - http://www.angra.net Vocalist Edu
Falaschi, drummer Aquiles Priester, and bassist
Felipe Andreoli have joined founding members,
guitarists and main songwriters Kiko Loureiro and
Rafael Bittencourt to complete the new line-up of
Angra. The band is currently going through a very
fruitful songwriting period. There are several new
tracks already completed, plus many others being
finalized. They will be heading into the studio in
June to record the effort, with sights set on a
late October release.
LACUNA COIL - http://www.lacunacoil.it/ The
Italian melodic metal composers Lacuna Coil
recorded their new album, titled Unleashed
Melodies, at Woodhouse Studio with producer
Waldemar Sorychta. The final track listing is as
follows: "Heir Of A Dying Day", "To Live Is To
Hide", "Purify", "Senzafine", "When A Dead Man
Walks", "1:19", "Cold Heritage", "Distant Sun", "A
Current Obsession" and "Wave Of Anguish". The band
once again take you on an awe-inspiring journey
laying down their strongest material ever that saw
a European release on January 29th and US release
(which includes the band's Halflife EP as an
exclusive bonus since it was previously unreleased
in the States) on March 20th. The group recently
finished up the 2001 Metal Odyssey festival tour
that featured Nevermore, Dimmu Borgir, In Flames
and Susperia and are looking into future touring
possibilities.
