Yesterday Nu-Clear Sounds came out in the States, and Ash played an acoustic set at the CMJ Music fest. Pictures coming soon, to hold you over until then
you can listen to the concert here! Ash's bit starts at about 1 hour into the Ash/Blinker The Star set....thanks to Nick for this info......
A correction about the cover ash played the other night: the song is called "What Goes On" by the Velvet Underground, not Rock will go on as previously mentioned.
Catch Ash in this weeks Melody Maker.......catch ya later........
September 11
PRE ORDER ASH'S US RELEASE OF NU-CLEAR SOUNDS!
Some news for you's...at the gig Ash played on the 9th they played a new cover called "Rock Will Go On"
by Northern Uproar, which is interesting, as well as an alternate version of Ween's "What Deaner Was Talking About". Thanks to Chris for this info.
August 31
the last strands of summer........my good friend Chris
tells me that the new Ash album will be produced by Butch Vig in his studio in Madison, the band
obviously liked his work on the remixes. The band will return to Ireland to demo the 20-25 ideas
that they have, which Charlotte says sounds a lot different than the last album.
August 26
Hey there, almost a whole month with no updates! doh.
The American release of 'Nu-Clear Sounds' has been pushed to September 28 from August 24, which means it has been almost a year between the Uk release untill the US release.
Ash are playing a secret show on the 9th of September in Dublin, supported by
6 by 7 and Co.Uk. Thanks to Chris for this info.
In this month's issue of CMJ New Music, there is a review of "Nu-Clear Sounds" which shows the reworked artwork of
the american release. It is basically the same as the inside of the 'Numbskull' single. As for the review, here are some excerpts:
"...the results are certainly darker than the groups' debut 1977, but Ash's brand of riff rock is closer to teh Foo Fighters than to Iggy Pop and
the Stooges....this sophmore release is indeed a darker, more grinding Ash worthy of its Flying V guitars and Marshall half-stacks......now if (they) can avoid reflecting the yen
for Iron Maiden and Thin Lizzy it's grinningly admitted to the British press, Ash can onlly grow into a quartet of real cool killers."
Also, there is a cd that comes with the mag and it has 'Jesus Says' on it.
In more news, Tim and Charlotte will be models for the spring line of Calvin Klien clothes.
Check out the official Hedrock Valley Beats webpage for the band that remixed 'Jesus Says'. They may be remixing 3 more Ash songs in the future.
July 27
Hey there.....ash are playing at Fuji Rock Festival which will be cybercast on thursday the 29 at sonicnet. Be sure to check it out.
Also, check out DreamWorks Records to see the Jesus Says video and download the Butch Vig remix of that song.
July 5
I have the tracklisting for the US release of 'Nu-Clear Sounds'-jesus says, wild surf, folk song, numbskull, burn out, aphrodite, death
trip 21, low ebb, fortune teller, projects, i'm gonna fall, a life less ordinary. Thanks to Karen for this info. I was kinda hoping they would put something new as an extra track.
Read a review of one of the US shows over at www.mysterykitchen.net. I archived the old news because this page took too long to load so you can see the old news here.
June 18
Here's some hot news, secret warm up gigs before Glastonbury! At the Fleece in Bristol on the Wednesday before, and in Salibury the Friday before.
Oh yeah, AB-CD has 'Aphrodite' parts 1 & 2 for sale.
June 17
Some sad news.....it's been confirmed that the Ash tour documentary has been shelved :(
Ash are playing a gig in NYC tomorrow night at the "Bowery Ballroom" as an extra show reported earlier, but it's been confirmed. Catch ya on the flipside.
June 14
Ash are playing tomorrow at the 'Roxy' in L.A. Whoever goes, enjoy the show. The band has layed down 19 rough tracks for
the new album, and according to Charlotte they have a 'Trailer' vibe to them, so take that for what you will. People at the U.S. shows and
at Glastonbury may be treated to a new song or two........The Ashumentary video 'No One Said It Was Going To Be Easy' which has been shelved for
so long may never reach us as the band has changed their mind about it. It is apparently quite mad, one scene involves the band pissing in a hotel lift
full of people. weird man! It has commentary by Obi-Won Kenobi, excuse me, I mean Ewen MacGregor, and is full with interviews and live performances.
Thanks to Chris for this info.
In other news, my page is almost completely renovated to a new server. Maybe I'll start a contest and whoever makes me the best logo will get a secret prize.
June 5
Ash are in Downpatrick laying down some demos for the next album, I may have working titles for you soon, but no promises.
Some news on the American release fo 'Nu-Clear Sounds'.....Here's an article about Butch Vig's work on the album. Ash are playing 3 dates in the States, June 15 at the 'Roxy' in Los Angeles, and according to the article, the 17 and 18
at the 'Bowery Ballroom' in New York, although the official page says only the 17.....the there is Glastonbury on June 26..........some one tape these shows!!!
Now some news about this page, I will be moving it to a different server in the next 2 weeks, and I would like someone to make me a logo for the front page, I have tried with little or no success many times.
Also, if anyone has seen the 'Aphrodite' single for sale, let me know the track listing please.....
