Derek T. Dixon
Handling one half of the directional sound mass, Derek's guitar playing is intrical to holding down the blasts and hooks of the DELIAN LEAGUE's mesmerizing music. Having grown up in southern California in the seventies and eighties, Derek's ability to comprehend and act upon his musical interests and influences regarding various forms of punk rock and other " heavy bands", is an obvious asset to the power of the band. He also picks up backup vocals on the songs "Mommy Salami",a rendition of "Understand Your Man" by Johnny Cash, and a bangin' punker version of "Just What I Needed" by The Cars. Derek also sings lead vocals on "Chaplin's Pill", "Mexican Bacalastitch", and a classic version of The Dicks "Hate The Police".
Derek has played in a variety of bands the last fifteen years, ranging from projects such as Cantankerous (Hard Core) from southern California in the late eighties to Hedgerod in the early nineties. Hedgerod was a powerful pop/punk band that played for two years around northeast and Canada. Rodann played bass for the get up and they toured with Chicago's Life Sentence as well as with Pittsburgh punk favorites Submachine and DoomWatch. Using his experience and drive, Derek has fueled his calling with pure jet fuel.
Closing comments: Derek likes sausage, hockey and long walks through gangland territory.
EQUIPMENT BIO
Derek plays an Ibanez RT guitar with humbucking pickups and 11 gauge Dean Markley strings. He's amplified through a Peavey tweed trans-tube head atop a Peavey 412E tweed style cabinet exploding through four 12-inch Shefield -1230 speakers giving a nice vintage sound. Derek uses a simple foot switcher pedals with reverb. His approach is minimalist, saying "I just use a guitar and amplifier, this is the best way to cut loose and rock."
