When there's a chance to dance
(Written c 1919. Music probably by George Gershwin. No music is known to survive.)

When there's a chance for me to dance,
I always embrace the opportunity.
The whole community
Knows, that in my clothes,
You'll find a prancing personality,
Whose dancing quality
Kills dull care!
Away with all despair,
I liek to walk on air -
That's why I dance.
A rhythmic tonic for the blues
I always choose.
The ticklish tempo tempting heart and soul
Until I lose control -
Arcady my only goal.
Come, let's go - For tomorrow
May bring woe - may bring sorrow.
So - I'm never slow
When there's a chance to dance.
